When you spoke with his mother-in-law, did you just leave a message asking him to call you
or did you give her a little background on the situation?
(Maybe there's something going on in his life that has caused his behavior, like a death or severe illness)

Even in those situations, I would return a contact and tell you that it would be a while or something...

BUT, maybe he can't get to his computer right now and his wife or someone else is using his Web Presence
to do things on the web. (My wife did it to me.... Sigh. What a wonderful woman...)

No matter. Does anyone live near him? Maybe just drop by and say Hi!

Better thought, IMO, call the local Police to pay him a visit.
Right now just to see what's going on, hopefully that's all it'll take.

  • Ask someone in the know with your local Authorities how this should best be handled.

If the gentleman is alive, well and has no good reason for this and continues to be so elusive

there is but one thing to do as what he has done IS very much against the Law.

Might I suggest you take whatever proof of delivery you have to your local Postmaster,

the USPS website to the US Postal Inspectors and lastly to your local Sheriff Department.

If he is up and running on eBay and refuses to respond then you have every right to prosecute him.

Petty thievery over Junk is inconceivable. image
  • No of course I don't think what has happened is right, but what law has he broken image
I assume that the coins were sent to him with no written agreement on payment or 'trade evenly then ship'... so what legal action can be taken?
First get the knowledge, then the coins.

Not sure of the legality, but to basically ruin your reputation over $150 HERE is purplexing.
Once you are 'known' folks will trust you with hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of nice coins.
There is something 'not right' with arlea1957 blowing all that for $150 of 'junk' coins.

There are many folks here that would contribute 'junk coins' to it whole again, but I think most are more concerned about what is going on with arlea1957....is he OK? Is there something we can do? Etc..

Maybe he has already been arrested for something very embarassing. Or had been planning a "drop off the grid" thing. i.e. Keep everything looking normal until the disappearance.

I can honestly say that I believe I know what is wrong with arlea1957. Contrary to what you may all think of him I know him as he truly is .... a person with a BIG Heart, as when I was made out to be something so far removed from the Truth, arlea1957 found it in his heart to reach out to me.

As I was recovering from the devastation of a ruined Marriage, God saw fit to take the very friend, the dog on my sigline, that stayed by my side during 18 Months of self imposed Silence. It really hurt to say good bye to this most loyal friend and yes, I wept - A LOT.

It is my dubious distinction to share with all of you what arlea1957 shared with me last night and it is totally with his permission. He states that he trusts me to share the following with all of you. I know his Pain - just leave it at that and please, if you are foolish enough to believe that this Quality human being actually ever had any intent to steal $150 worth of JUNK, if you have nothing Good to say, then by all means, say nothing at all. Sometimes bad things happen to good people.....things that they NEVER would have dreamed possible.

Hey Boom... tnx for your support thoughout this ordeal..... my fault totally... call it what you will but I was not able to even check my email for the last few months..... and still have not. I was totally irresponsible in my actions or lack there of... but it really took all my energy to just get up and go to work. This has never happened to me before and I am not sure what is was. I am really sorry and feel like XXXX for all the board members who were depending on my to continue this action but all I can say at this point is that it was beyond my mental/physical control and I let everyone down. I am going to stay off the boards for a while but would appreciate your continued support as I do plan to return... sheepishly no doubt. I am sure you understand.

    cheers

    Rob

p.s. feel free to share this message with others as you feel appropriate.

Folks, I have no dog in this fight, and in hindsight maybe I should not have posted here.
My first posts were meant as more of a concern for Rob, and it does sound like there were problems.
We can only guess, and I have, but will keep them to myself.

Later on I suppose I was thinking that for whatever reason, Rob had left the boards.

Heck, nowadays you might go 'POOF'......GONE!

Now, once contact was made with Rob, I was making fun of the situation.

I do want to say that I never thought it was in Rob's character to make off with the tag.
I hope all will be better in the near future, and once he's ready, will welcome him back.

    All,
I have been in the hospital for the past week due to pneumonia. I have contacted both Millertime and Docq as I haven't finished up the last swap (still sitting in my office) but will be enroute to Docq on Thursday.

Sorry to have held things up.
