Now your just taunting him Dave!!

Anyone see that Bogus Staubach rc psa 10 on ebay that got pulled last night? The cert was legit, it was just registered to someone elses set. I cant belive there are no penalties for trying to sell a card you dont have. Buyer beware isnt an excuse to try to swindle people.

The Hickerson will probably pay for half the submission but I still expected better. The major disappointments were the Bob Brown (expected and 8), The Hanburger (expected and 8) and The Renfro. Anyway, when I get them back, I will be cracking a few and sending with the September football special

thats funny...i just got this email from PSA....Someone had to nark that I had a die cut registered.... Wonder what idiot had to bring this to their attention.....image

    Hi Dave,

An error has been made in your All-Time NFL Quarterbacks key-card set which has been brought to our attention. The error is regarding the card required for Peyton Manning, which is the 1998 SP Authentic. The card in your set, #90448715, is labeled as the ‘die-cut’ variety and should not have been accepted in the set. I have since removed this card from your set. If I have done so in error and the card is actually the regular SP Authentic, but the database is wrong, please send me a scan of the item so that I can get this resolved in the PSA database and add the card back to your set.

If the card is labeled correctly as the ‘die-cut’ version, I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Either way, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

    Thank You,

Sorry to avoid your question Drew, but I was a little p.o.ed. I sold a PSA 8 for $400 a few months ago. Some have sold since for less but I dont know the exact prices. I will sell this 8 for $350 shipped if anyone is interested.....

  • I hadn't planned on doing this, but I spoke to Craig today and I figured I'd let everyone in on it and he agreed.

I am in the process of acquiring Craigzav's collection.

He will be bringing it to Florida next month.

I will be listing cards for sale on the board.

I will describe the cards as either mine in hand or Craig's to be delivered.

If you can be patient, then please feel free to make an offer for Craig's cards that are listed. If you cannot be patient then please wait until I have them in hand.

If the card is mine I will have a scan. If the card is Craig's there might be a scan in his set; otherwise please consider there is no scan available.

Thanks to Craig and thanks to everyone on the board.

    Marc.

I wait 2+ months, checking everyday for my June Sub to pop..The FIRST DAY I leave for a week and Boom, the grades are there..lol..Pretty close to what I expected, although I thought I would get 4 more 10's than I got and thought one of the Steve Young RCs had a REAL good shot at a PSA 9.

All are for sale, PM me or e-mail at jabeduco@yahoo.com if interested.

Dave, sorry to hear about the Peyton getting yanked...Are you saying PSA specifically targeted your card? Or are they removing all the die-cuts? BS if they were targeting just your card, but if they are removing all die-cuts, I think its the right call to make for the long run. So long as they aren't allowing parallels. Ouch on your sub...I got one like that about a year ago and re-submitted about half of them and got upgrades on about 40% of the re-subs..I think you just got un-lucky with a rookie grader...

Marc, congrats on consummating your deal with Craig. I'll be looking for you to join the 8.00 club soon...

Jay, you are correct on the Hickerson 9..I've actually purchased 3 of them within the past year..The first I sold to Jon (fight4olddc), the 2nd was for me and the 3rd I bought for Glenn (gswass)...My $1576 was the cheapest one and it is the one currently residing ion Glenn's collection.I paid even more for mine..The pop on those has increased, so if anything they are probably cheaper now..

  • Jason --

Welcome back. Glad to see you are safe and sound.

As usual you are correct about the Hickerson, I got my Hickerson 9 in May and paid $1200.

However, I was contacted by a dealer and so the sale would not be included in VCP.

    Marc.

Hey Joe, maybe you heard, Marc doesn't shine shoes any more. You insulted him. A little bit. A little bit.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. Tommy DeVito: No more shines Billy
    Billy Batts: What?
Tommy DeVito: I said, no more shines Billy Maybe you didn't hear about it, you've been away a long time, I didn't go up, didn't tell ya.
    Billy Batts: Ah...
Tommy DeVito: I don't shine shoes anymore.
Billy Batts: Relax, would ya. What's got into you? I haven's seen you in a long f'ing time, and I'm breaking your balls a little bit, I'm only kidding with ya...
Tommy DeVito: Well, sometimes you don't sound like you're kidding, you know, there's a lotta people here...
Billy Batts: I'm only kidding with ya
    Tommy DeVito: S'ok.
Billy Batts: I don't mean to offend you.
    Tommy DeVito: I'm sorry
    Billy Batts: I'm sorry too.
    Tommy DeVito: It's okay.
    Billy Batts: Salud, Tommy.
Tommy DeVito: Can we get some drinks? Everybody, drinks on the house.
Billy Batts: [Takes a drink] Now go home and get your f'ing shine box

  • Another finally story... I give up on Action Packed. This has to make a total of 25 I have submitted and all have come back 8's or 7's. Also, does anyone know if finger prints on the chromes lowers the grade?

Is this Ernie Holmes card really worth this much?

For anyone not tracking, here is where we stand with RBs and WRs close to automatic addition to the RB and WR sets this year. 10,000 yds for RBs, 800 catches-12,000 yds for WRs..14 games to go, we could have quite a few adds this season..After these though, its going to be a few years before any other RBs or WRs get close...

    RBs:
Fred Taylor- 1998 SP Authentic---needs 415 yds (likely between weeks 7-10)
Warrick Dunn- 1997 SP Authentic---needs 434 yds (likely between weeks 7-10)
LaDanian Tomlinson- 2001 Topps Chrome---needs 756 yds (likely between weeks 10-13)
Shaun Alexnader- 2000 SP Authentic---needs 1,112 yds (likely between weeks 14-17)
Ahman Green- 1998 SP Authentic---needs 1,365 yds (likely 2008, possibly by season end)
    Jamal Lewis- 2000 SP Authentic---needs 1,948 yds (likely 2008, I don't see him having a 2,000 yd season in 2007)

    WRs:
Terrell Owens- 1996 SP---needs 111 yds (likely this weekend, next weekend at the latest)
Rod Smith- 1995 Ultra---needs 611 yds (currently on the PUP list, not a lock to get 611 this season)
Keenan McCardell- 1994 Stadium Club---needs 883 yds (unemployed at the moment, looks like he may be finished and won't get to 12,000)
Randy Moss- 1998 SP Authentic---needs 107 receptions, 1,012 yds (yds are a real possibility this season, but not likely to get 107 more catches in 2007)
Torry Holt- 1999 SP Authentic---needs 75 receptions, 1,178 yds (likely between weeks 14-17)

If Moss has a Pro Bowl season this year or gets to a Super Bowl, I would vote YES on his addition and not need the automatic numbers.

FYI, QB and Defense sets don't have any automatic numbers.

For QBs, the only active guys I see even close are Tom Brady and Donovan McNabb..Another Pro Bowl or Super Bowl season for either and they will be ready for the QB set.

On Defense don't really see anyone pressing...I think Urlacher and Champ Bailey have the best chance at future addition, but both need to add 3 or so more years to their body of work before making the All-Time Defense set.

NOT LIKELY. LAST 5 AVERAGED $56 (WHICH SEEMS HIGH TO ME)

That is one ugly 8, badly tilted.

I sold a mint cornered PSA 8 Holmes for $85 once in an ebay auction. I thought it looked as good as any 9 but it had a few specks of snow in the background. This was over a year ago I believe. I hope that helps.

    FYI,

T.O. went over 12,000 yds last night. I have sent the request to Cosetta to add his RC (1996 SP) to the All-Time Receivers set.

Not sure what the time table will be, I assume they will not need to send out a poll. His "best" rookie (SP) is pretty cut and dry.

    Interesting stat...Check this out.

I ran a query through my HOFer database by year of retirement of all current HOFers. By decade (from 60s-90's), here are when HOFers retired:

    60's= 38
    70's= 47
    80's= 38
    90's= 17

Biggest single year was 1977, with 7 future HOFers retiring after the 1977 season. They were: Mel Renfro, Lem Barney, Willie Lanier, Joe Namath, Charlie Sanders, Paul Warfield, and Charley Taylor...Quite an offseason..lol..Only 1 off-season from 1960-1990 yielded ZERO future HOFers...1970...Only 2 others (1960 and 1986) yielding just 1 future HOFer. So far in the 1990's, 1991 has zero, 1995, 1996, 1997 all have just 1 each.

Looking at the decade numbers, I've got to think the 1990's retirees will end up with at LEAST 30 HOFers, which means 13 players who retired between 1990-1999 will be inducted in the future.

    Top candidates IMO:
    Art Monk
    Derrick Thomas
    Richard Dent
    Andre Tippett
    Gary Zimmerman
    Russ Grimm
    Charley Haley
    Kevin Greene
    Steve At-water
    Roger Craig
    Jim Covert
    Joe Jacoby
    Chris Doleman

Is it possible that the 1990's had fewer than 30 future HOFers retire when the previous 3 decades had no fewer than 38 each?

    Thought?

Well there are some players that retired in the early 2000's that really played the main careers in the late 80's early 90's. But you are probably right. When its all said and done most decades will probably average out to be the same.

  • Well I finally had my invoice pop, here are the results. Overall it was ok. I am a little disappointed in my 2 SGC crack outs and the 2 cards not holdered. If I get them back in time i am going to resubmit under the $5 special. I marked the cards for sale that I am going to part with. I guess the biggest card I got was the Roaf 10.
