I'm not so sure it would wear off - I've seen P01/FR2 coins with nearly no detail on the obv/rev, but you could still read the edge lettering.
Hey Keets - where is that fungo?

perhaps when it is proven that there is no god or gods, only us terrestrial life and any alien life that exists,
then we will feel a little silly for believing in mythical diety fables and "trusting" in them on our currency
will our decendents will smile kindly upon our naivete?

just leave the Motto where it's at and deal with it. the whole debate is stupid, stupid, stupid and begs the declaration-----GET A LIFE!!!!

I'll pray for you. I can't see how people think that there is not A (singular) Creator. Even the brightest minds all troughout history recognized this, and bibilical principles were what this country was established by! Look at the mess we're in now, God has just about been taken out/off everything already! How far downhill can we go? I will say a prayer for though ss350camaro
Edited to direct this to Baley. sorry ss350camaro
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

<< <i>So yesterdays IGWT thread got nuked?? >>
It was locked after a liberal kook responded with a typical rant that had nothing to do with the motto. It should still be there, but falling fast.
There's a new coin coming out in 2007, it's call the Presidential Dollar.
Here's a quote:
'as well as edge-incused inscriptions of the year of minting or issuance, "E Pluribus Unum," "In God We Trust" and the mint mark.'
IGWT will be on the edge for the new dollar.
<< <i>How would you do this on a reeded edge coin? >>
Laser inscribed on one of the reeds.
<< <i>What's IGWT?? >>
jonesy, you have GOT to be kidding. Even a pinhead like you can't be that obtuse.
(There, that oughta get this thread nuked
"Get a life" is a fine new motto, but you didn't stick to the question on the thread

Not sure if it's irritation so much as bemusement that the name of an imaginary being appears on our coinage.
Unless we interpret "God" to mean a concept (like "Liberty" and "E Pluribus Unum" are concepts)
If the word "God" is interpreted as a concept that means, "Nature", "Justice", or something like that, it works for everyone, not just the monotheists who believe (trust) some stories they've been told
PS: I personally find it fascinating that several people who are supposedly sick and tired of this topic decide to go ahead and respond to another IGWT thread

<< <i>America is a democracy and seems to support the Motto. add to this the fact that the overwhelming majority of the WORLDS population believes in a diety of some form and this ridiculous quandry is resolved. pity the poor persons who are aggravated by "In God We Trust" and are forced to deal with their torment over the whole thing.

Well Al, look at the original poster. A deadbeat with no life other than to post dumb chit.
<< <i>Gemineye, is that an example of your thought process? I looked and looked and I see no logic in your most recent post. >>

For whom are we changing it for..??....Nothing is good enough for the few....

The face of an Indian does not equivocate a religion or belief system for that matter. A reference to a deity does equivocate to a particular system of beliefs/faiths. I think the world's most popular religion is Buddahism. How would you feel if all U.S. coinage said "In Buddah We Trust"?

Somehow I get a picture in my mind of a large overweight man sitting on a pedastal chanting...!!

Aside from the fact that you misspelled it, and aside from the fact that Buddhists do not believe in a single Creator, (in other words, In Buddha We Trust makes no sense in the context of this discussion), it is nowhere near the world's most popular "religion".

<< <i>It also suggests that a lot of Chinese must be Muslims and Christians >>
True, there are. In western China Islam is the predominant religion. Christianity is also rampant throughout China.
I have a Chinese friend from Malaysia who is Jewish. She even thinks that's a little strange, but many people don't choose their faith; their faith chooses them.
Of course, the chart omits this benevolent deity:
I know for a fact He exists and is the Deity because my Holy book here says so (and the book is the direct Word of the FSM, and is therefore infallible)

except ...
All the arguments to keep it are based on it NOT having any meaning....
And it should irritate the faithful a lot more than atheists...

If it were not for liberals, our coins would say we were ruled by the king of England, with the grace of God.

Uh, that would be THIS liberal kook, and I was responding to YOUR rant.
Here its is, again (your rant, that is...)
<< If they can find a judge to rule a cross on public land is government sponsorship of a specific religion, they will have no problems finding a judge on this issue. Next all crosses will be removed from highways (and places like Arlington National Cemetary). The Supreme Court building will need to be demolished and re-built due to the Ten Commandments being built into it. We are no longer a land of the people, but a land where the minority pushes their beliefs on the majority. >>
For the record, my response to YOUR rant is my only IGWT post. And you're correct-my repsonse had nothing to do with IGWT, it had to do with your apparent disdain for the rule of law and our constitutional sytem of government.
You might also reread what this kook posted. Note that I disagreed with your post, without resorting to calling you a "kook", or any other name. Try it sometime-its a liberal and liberating way to way to discuss an emotional matter.
