I'm not so sure it would wear off - I've seen P01/FR2 coins with nearly no detail on the obv/rev, but you could still read the edge lettering.

perhaps when it is proven that there is no god or gods, only us terrestrial life and any alien life that exists,

then we will feel a little silly for believing in mythical diety fables and "trusting" in them on our currency

will our decendents will smile kindly upon our naivete?

America is a democracy and seems to support the Motto. add to this the fact that the overwhelming majority of the WORLDS population believes in a diety of some form and this ridiculous quandry is resolved. pity the poor persons who are aggravated by "In God We Trust" and are forced to deal with their torment over the whole thing.

just leave the Motto where it's at and deal with it. the whole debate is stupid, stupid, stupid and begs the declaration-----GET A LIFE!!!!

I'll pray for you. I can't see how people think that there is not A (singular) Creator. Even the brightest minds all troughout history recognized this, and bibilical principles were what this country was established by! Look at the mess we're in now, God has just about been taken out/off everything already! How far downhill can we go? I will say a prayer for though ss350camaro

Not sure if it's irritation so much as bemusement that the name of an imaginary being appears on our coinage.

Unless we interpret "God" to mean a concept (like "Liberty" and "E Pluribus Unum" are concepts)

If the word "God" is interpreted as a concept that means, "Nature", "Justice", or something like that, it works for everyone, not just the monotheists who believe (trust) some stories they've been told

PS: I personally find it fascinating that several people who are supposedly sick and tired of this topic decide to go ahead and respond to another IGWT thread

It seems we hold Native American Indians in high regard that we place them on our coinage in Full Face...Their beliefs and history does not go overlooked.They indeed believe in a supreme being.Should the faces of the Native American Indian such as Sacagawea be removed from our coins because of her belief.

The face of an Indian does not equivocate a religion or belief system for that matter. A reference to a deity does equivocate to a particular system of beliefs/faiths. I think the world's most popular religion is Buddahism. How would you feel if all U.S. coinage said "In Buddah We Trust"?

Interesting chart. I see their rounding explanation but they add up to 102.58% not including that significantly sized OTHER piece of pie (Zoroastrians, Bahai, ... I presume). Something is messed up, though the basic idea is likely correct. Get over it! It’s part of our American history whether we like it or not. It also serves as a reminder that there is something out there bigger than our individual and collective egos. True, there are. In western China Islam is the predominant religion. Christianity is also rampant throughout China.

I have a Chinese friend from Malaysia who is Jewish. She even thinks that's a little strange, but many people don't choose their faith; their faith chooses them.
