What is wrong with this Grant?

I have a raw Grant with some pretty bad die polish lines, but have you ever seen anything like this. Its only $15,000 to boot.

The die polish lines are very typical. Additionally, greysheet bid for an MS66 grant/star is $13,500.

The present example doesn't look to have any bit of originality to it so I do not like it very much.

  • The die polish isn't the problem although some people find it distracting. That it's a disgustingly overdipped, probably NCS'd POS is a much bigger cause for concern and disappointment.

Distracting is an understatement. It looks like someone took a grinder to that die. I agree it looks like an overdipped POS, too.

I just find it funny that he's calling it a NGC * coin.

    Dippy de do da,
    Dippy de a,
Send it NCS and have a WONDERFUL DAY!

NGC must have looked at the the spot that looks like plain old polishing in front of Grant's face and found it to be die polishing. BUT it sure does not look original to me.

And yes, most original Grants have some amount of toning so this one has almost certainly been dipped.

It's been stripped of its' dignity. Oh by the way, dignity=originality in this case.image
