Yankees add backup catcher Fasano
Class A infielder Made sent to Philadelphia; Stinnett designated
ARLINGTON -- Looking to improve their backup catcher position, the Yankees acquired Sal Fasano from the Phillies on Wednesday morning.
New York sent Minor League infielder Hector Made to Philadelphia to complete the deal.
To make room for Fasano on their roster, the Yankees designated Kelly Stinnett for assignment.
Fasano, 34, batted .243 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 50 games with the Phillies before landing on the disabled list on July 4 with left knee inflammation. He was designated for assignment on July 22.
Fasano spent the 2004 season in the Yankees organization, spending Spring Training with New York before being sent to Triple-A Columbus for the year. In 368 career games with six teams, Fasano owns a career batting average of .225 with 45 home runs and 125 RBIs.
Stinnett, 36, hit just .228 in 34 games with the Yankees this season, striking out 29 times in 79 at-bats. He was signed by the Yankees this winter to replace John Flaherty as Jorge Posada's backup, but he did not live up to expectations at the plate.

I agree about Navarro ESPECIALLY when we ARE talking about the backup spot here. Anyway, those kind of thoughts are for hot stove talk in the winter!
I am really hoping (and beginning to believe) that the Yankees will not run amock this weekend trading some of the goodies they do have in the farm system. Philip Hughes being the top guy. The Yankees need another quality arm in the pen. It is looking more and more like Octavio Dotel will not be much of a factor this year.

Scott Proctor has come on latley, Farnsworth also along with Villone. I don't trust Farnsworth in a big spot though. I agree for the most part that the Yanks would be better served staying put ...... unless they can pull a Willis deal. HE IS THE ONLY GUY I would not mind the Yankees trading Philip Hughes and a couple others for.

...and we can't rely on big home runs in the ninth every night.
The pitching was horrible between Wright (who i think looks as good as you can expect) and Mariano.
Did Farnsworth get hurt while warming up or something?

And the BoSox lost too. Congrats! I'm getting primed for the Jays/Yankees series this week. I'm little scared though. Halladay is set to pitch against the A's on Sunday and won't take the mound in the Yankees series (unless the Jays juggle the rotation).
Funny that Halladays name comes up because the Manager of Tampa Bay compared the sinker thrown by Wang to that of Halladay.
