NewPS: 1799 Bust Dollar - Update PCGS just Graded 7/28!

I had to branch out from Morgans so this is my recent purchase. The coin shop I bought it from has done well by me and he purchased the coin at a recent estate auction. PCGS just finished grading this one XF40!

I like!
That coin is BEAUTIFUL!
I don't know how to grade those, but it looks very close to AU to me....

Although I'm not a Bust Dollar Grading expert, the coin appears dark, I believe that it's probably got more luster than is evident in your photos, and it appears approx EF-45 to perhaps AU-50 to me, with very little wear on Miss Liberty's hair, which may be a bit weakly defined due to slightly weak strike, rather than wear.
I'd love to see some more revealing pictures of her with more light reflecting off of the field surfaces to show us a bit more about her remaining mint luster hiding in some of those protected sreas of the coin.
Are you planning to send her in for certification?? -- I certainly would if she were mine...
Thanks for sharing such a majestic and historic coin with us!!

Let me congratulate you on that coin. That one is a killer in my eyes. I love the detail on this coin and as far as the coin itself---what a great coin to add to any collection.
I like the color of that coin and I also like her skin. As long as those obverse field hits are not intentional (graffiti looking), and they don't look that way, that coin is a true beauty that I would love in my collection.
edited to add--- Oh yea the grade---I see that in a 45 holder

babys at an estate sale. The coin looks circulated but very lightly with no bad abrasions. Surfaces look very original. Congrats on the pickup.
Perhaps there is not as much wear on the obverse that one may think based on striking pressure? I do not think it is uncommon for either the obverse or reverse to be struck better than the other.
It looks to be a strong candidate for an original surfaces designation.
