what would you do if you bought this ANACS AG3 and you were told it had Absolutely NO scratches or digs and then were refused a refund?

The guy offers you a refund privilege before you agree to the deal and now he won't honor it? Sounds like someone worth avoiding from now on, to me.

How could that guy spot the circles and not the scratch?
  • BarryBarry Posts: 10,100 ✭✭✭
Point him to this thread and if he's lucky, he'll realize he was in the wrong and will now do the right thing, before his reputation is shot.

And if that doesn't work, if he's an ANA member, file a grievance.

It didn't sell on eBay. Nevertheless, the feedback and his responses to it would have given me pause to think, most likely.

Doesn't ANACS have some sort of guarantee?

I mean, wouldn't that be the next step since this guy told you to go pound sand?

Maybe because it was lame? Nah, that would be too obvious. There must be some sinister plot brewing...

Just be happy you received your coin at all ... the last time I bought from a board member I paid for the coin instantly and didn't receive a damn thing image

  • <Before I comment I need to know if the seller is a "respected" board member. It DOES matter ya know!!>

Naw, doesn't matter to me. The guy's negatives seem unprofessional to me. And having below %99 pos is bad. He is going back on a deal so is obviously not a man of his word. I'll call it that way regardless if he is a board member or not.

I sure hope he rethinks his position. Who wants to be known as a guy who can't keep his word? Anyway I'd like to know if he does take a table at show.. Anybody?

A return privilige should be honored. That scratch is really nasty IMO. That one should be going back, and if he agreed to an inspection, he shouldn't be giving you a hard time about taking it back. If he thinks it is such a beauty, he should have no trouble moving it.

    Sorry about your experience, John.

This dealer is a jagoff (saw that word here recently for the first time since leaving Pittsburgh at age 18 image ) to be avoided by knowledgeable collectors and dealers...unless, of course, he joins our forum. image

He is a liar. This statement alone says it. Name one dealer (or anyone for that matter) who will not buy a coin back if they can get more for it? My guess is that he had it for some time and deecided to unload it. JMHO. Bob

  • Goose...hunt him down like the dog that he is...take him to the woodshed....meet him on the playground at 3pm after school lets out......you know what I mean...what a POS!
  • This guys shop is not too far from me but I have never been in that part of town or seen his shop but I have definately heard about how much of a smart A$$ he is with his customers, so I never even took the time to go there. Glad I now know who he is on ebay so I can avoid him

  • << <i> My guess is that he had it for some time and deecided to unload it. >>

Yeah, it's called sticking it to you.
  • How did you pay for it?
    Check?
    Paypal?
    Credit card?

    Reverse the charges...
then when he screams, send it back ...

You have choices as long as you did not send cash..

You have emails saying he would honor the return and those can be used to present your position to your credit card company.

Even if you paid by paypal and they won't reverse it, go staright to the bank issuing the card and they will pull the rug out from under paypal, pay pal will then reverse it on their side to get their money back..

This works. I have done it once when paypay wouldn't make a move..

Lustig and Mrearlygold if you have something to say, post it. Or if it's so great, why don't you buy it from me Andy since apparently you initially thought I should keep it.

I forgot.....it's taboo around here to associate a dealer with anything negative. We collectors are supposed to take this sort of crap, right?

    Fletcher,
Don't get me started with your BS. I can't believe you are STILL whining.

Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. Funny how when you complain about a crappy transaction with dealer that isn't a regular here everyone jumps on the bandwagon with you. And, when you complain about a crappy transaction with a dealer that everyone knows, the weak minded masses try to turn it around and make it the buyers fault. I love the hipocrisy.

Goose - I never suggested that you keep the coin. You asked what WE would do. I said that I would back off and take a short loss because it's not worth getting into a pissing contest over a small loss. However, if you had asked what we thought YOU should do, I would have advised you to rage on, since you seem to live for this cra*p.

    Ah yes....

    I live for it.

What I live for is to be treated properly in a transaction and to not have someone(whether a dealer or collector) not try and pull stuff like this on me.

I guess it's too much to expect a bit of honesty and for someone's word to actually mean something these days.

I don't take kindly to being treated otherwise.

I guess I should just eliminate coins and start handing out money to people if they wish to lie to me and go back on their word. That'd be simple I'm sure.

yep, smart a$$ remarks in feedback means an instant NO DEAL for me.

Then spend your time and energy seeking out people who will treat you properly and stick with them. Every moment spent agonizing over your disappointments will only distract you from "what you live for". Right?

I'd just reverse any credit card or other charges. I wouldn't be that upset about a slide mark on an AG coin, because most of them have them. But if you'all agreed to a return--then he should honor it.
