  • Bought me one of the PCGS MS-69's from APMEX yesterday...A couple of bucks more than raw and much less than the proof (MS-69's not on the APMEX site today)

I don't have one, and it will be a long while before I bother to get one. I'd rather put the money into something that is more interesting.

If one eventually falls into my lap at slightly over melt, I'll be a buyer.
But until that point, I'll buy generic Saints instead.

The coin doesn't suit my current interests, so I am not and will not be a buyer.

There are too many other classic coins I'd like to pursue with $800 to buy modern bullion.

  • There's a show coming up in my burg in a couple of weeks, so I'll wait until then to get one.

I like the unc. better than the proof. I think the unc. looks more like a real coin. Proofs are too fancy-schmancy for me. Although a lot of people are saying that the proof could be a good investment.

When gold falls back to $255, I'll pounce on a set; maybe splurge for the proof and MS.
  • Are they sold out ?
  • BlindedByEgoBlindedByEgo Posts: 10,754 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have not, nor do I intend to. Now if I can buy one below melt...
  • Not yet! But it could come back to haunt us if they change the design next year and every year after that.
Also, there's stories/rumors that there will be 4 COIN DENOMINATION BUFFALOES next year like the gold
eagle sets! Add that to the fact that this is the first year 24k Gold Coin!!!?????

And the 1st Year 1986 Gold Eagle Proofs have sold like hotcakes on Ebay this year!

Those real gold ones are too expensive.

For the first time in my life, the price of the coin doesn't put it out of my reach. The design of the coin, however, looks like a puddle of vomit. I think it's one of the ugliest coin designs EVER for United States Coinage. I won't waste my time or money on this coin. I already have a 24-karat gold coin, and frankly the Canadian Maple Leaf design is much better looking in my eyes.

Not here. Just waiting for the suckers who bought 'em at $800 and had 'em slabbed PR69 by PCGS to sell 'em on ebay for melt or near melt. I guess I'll own one sooner than later!!! Sellout at the mint....not a chance and this thread proves it. This coin is the perfect example of modern crap marketed by the Mint at newbie's expenses.....or in this case....many experienced collectors. Sorry but the truth hurts!! Flame away!! image
