Mr Barndog, actually I'm torn over handling this kind of stuff. I am a collector at heart for longer than many people here are alive, certainly longer than most here have collected. In fact I've made my living as a dealer for longer than most people here have even thought of collecting coins.
What I'm saying is that I can't help myself ( where is the nail biting icon? ) when it comes to buying coins for my own stash. While it's true that I've specialized in some of the most esoteric and exotic material for decades, that doesn't mean I don't LIKE the products coming out of the mint. I DO like these Buffaloes, own some , and as such I AM selling them at a what I think are fair prices with a fair market above costs.
Now there are some people who prey on the collector and especially prey on the investor with wild pitches of appreciation ( there's someone here, you know who you are and one of these days the states attorney is going to turn his finger your way ) for these things and mark them up with incredible profits ( for the seller. I can't call these people dealers as a few of them have even been indicted AND convicted in the last few years of fraud ) while simultanously pitching them as an investment.........
Sorry, I get going on this subject sometimes, but it's sad really what some people are getting away with
So, no I'm not by any stretch getting into these in a big way, I do believe they are a foundational part of the hobby and as long as the price is fair, then I hope everyone has a good time collecting them along with whatever else they enjoy in the Numismatic world.
