The classic US eagle. Longacre's representation of the original Titian Peale/Gobrecht design.

The parent of the Flying Eagle Cent ...

    image

Yep, Longacre "borrowed" his Flying Eagle design from Gobrecht.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

One of my all-time best cherrypicks- I cherrypicked this one from eBay for $29.00 a few years ago...the photo was from a distance and was blurry, but I could see feather detail, so I bought it. Boy, was I surprised when it arrived in the mail, and I saw the grade and that it was a type of '56!

I really though this was a 1858/7. I have a 58/7 in PCGS holder that is graded F15 . This one in hand I can see remains of the 7 but not as clear as my F15. I must just be seeing things. I thought I had a nice cherry pick for $30.00. Guess I was wrong. I will have to send it off with some others to Rick for his Eagle Eye Attribution Card, If anyone will know it will be Rick.

Given to me by my aunt in the 1970's. The coin had two holes. So I decided to enjoy it everyday.
