I just gave my 2 year old nephew a Michael Jordan RC PSA 10. He told me he's thinking of trading it away for candy. Also, I gave my car to a homeless guy and a 150 lb. sack of gold coins to my cat.
Been enjoying this thread all mourning, wow. I am a new member also but been around a little longer than EB and I can figure out how he is already a senior member. Is it based on the # of posts?
EB, are you selling off your cards or not? If you are, why were you so vocal in trying to out a potential buyer by posting private messages on a public forum?
Secondly, why would you give 10s of thousands of cards to a relative, when he (obviously) has no appreciation of their value? Why wouldn't you give him a few then sell the rest? Or is that market so 'demolished' that no one's buying?
Finally, if you are as active and hunted with your auctions as you claim to be, why aren't you sniping? Hell, I'm not a big time spender of cards at all and I snipe all my auctions.
There's a lot (and I mean a LOT) of contradictions and red flags in your stories, EB.
EB, are you selling off your cards or not? If you are, why were you so vocal in trying to out a potential buyer by posting private messages on a public forum?I don't appreciate someone coming to me and saying...in essence.."You're item is garbage..but hey, I'll buy it anyway." They're crazy if they think I need to sell to them..in any way, at any time
Secondly, why would you give 10s of thousands of cards to a relative, when he (obviously) has no appreciation of their value? Why wouldn't you give him a few then sell the rest? Or is that market so 'demolished' that no one's buying? This was explained months ago on another forum...but since you have asked reasonably...and not acting like some detective wannabe scumbag...PM me and I will explain it to you. If you want.
Finally, if you are as active and hunted with your auctions as you claim to be, why aren't you sniping? Hell, I'm not a big time spender of cards at all and I snipe all my auctions. I never said I was hunted...please do not put words in my mouth or make a moutain out of a molehill. I noticed, when I was buying Delmon Young that with each purchase early on..people were emailing me and offering specific cards I had bought. With each email, the prices were rising to ridiculous amounts. So, with that I simply began to use alternate acounts to atleast give the perception that I (EB31) was not in the market for these cards anymore. To this day..I still buy them..but as it has been seen here....I give the attitude that I am not interested anymore. This has significantly helped me acquire some of the cards I want without paying a kings ransom for them. I hope this is as straight forward and clear as I can possiby make it.
There's a lot (and I mean a LOT) of contradictions and red flags in your stories, EB. As I have already said, and make it quite clear...my methods may seem ODD to most..I will agree to that. But they work for me. I don't mind being viewed as odd..but in no way am I dishonest or a thief. That, is the big picture and what is of most importance in the trading community. I am definately a strange bird with how I do things....but I have never cheated a single soul, never been involved in a fraudulent deal...and never, ever stolen a dime from anyone..EVER. So, I do not mind the questions...and the raised eyebrows at how I choose to run my auctions, buy my cards..etc But I do not appreciate the accustaions that I am in some way crooked..or a thief. Simply because you (in general) may not understand why I do the things I do ..should not be reason enough for anyone to label me a crook. Again..I hope that I have made myself as clear as I possibly could. PM me if you want a clearer picture as to why I started the rumor that I had given my cards away. Thanks, EB >>

and i found it interesting because you told somebody in your original post that they had ZERO credibility.. i was searching for a credible reason that someone would go through as many eBay ID's as you do, and not only that, all the accounts end up being "NARU"..

Fair enough. Like I've said from the start..I know I do odd things. But it does work for me. I don't mind being asked certains things...but fromthe get go you have had an accusatory tone. Whether you agree or not..it was quite clear. As it is clear who on Beckett you are getting your info from..the some "chic" that has accused me of stealing all $30k in Delmon Golds....a ridiculous claim.
I don't have a problem with you...provided you are not trying to accuse me of any wrong doing. But I would appreciate it if you have any questions for me....listen to my answers and respect them atleast. Every time I provide an answer...you pop up with a negative tone as if to imply I am lying. Not the case at all.

Not as if anyone will believe it anyway....but yes, it was a purposeful fabrication. At the time I was being hounded by someone to sell him my Delmons at absurd yard sale prices.....so I told him I gave them away, and to validate it (and to further strengthen the fact that I was no longer in the market) I posted I gave them away.
Looking back, I am sure I could have found a better way to handle it. As it is clear it has cuased me more grief than needed with all the wannabe internet detectives out there. Common sense would dictate that there would be very little for me to benefit from spreading that myslef..other than to throw people off and to stay on course with the whole "I am no longer buying" theme.

I don't know why you don't believe EB. I mean, Marshall Fogel, John Branca and the rest of the hobby's heaviest hitters are always pretending to give away their collections to relatives to escape from the harassing throngs of paparazzi-like hobbyists who throw them lowball offers. my sincere advice to you eb31 is to leave this board for a month and then come back with a new identity.

You don't agree with my choice of card purchases and how I spend my money????!! I am crushed!! (yea, ok) lol

<< <i>And I thought this place was different from beckett LOL Nothing but the same....and SoFlaPhilly is Jeff Novell from Clearwater, Florida. >>
First of all, I believe that Jeff Novell is from Tampa. Second, the other guy has been here a long time posting under the SOFlaPhilly name. Jeff has posted here before, but not under that name. They are both Phillies fans, if that makes you feel any better.
here is what you looked like when delmon young got suspended:
here is what you will wear on monday fighting criminals on ebay:
and finally after a tough day of providing truth and justice to the world, it will be time for a little relaxing "role play" with a $4.99 a minute friend who has a 900 phone number. sadly for you $30,000 goes faster in this manner than with baseball card purchases.
1) you said-- ". So, with that I simply began to use alternate acounts to atleast give the perception that I (EB31) was not in the market for these cards anymore. To this day..I still buy them.."
------so are you out of the market like you indicated or are you still in?-----
2)"A) I have no desire or need to leave and come back under a new id..only a scumbag would do that..and only a bigger scumbag would suggest it"
-----you contradict your own actions regarding all the ebay ids. then call theczar a scumbag. thats pretty funny.------
3). i think most people feel the same way as i do when i say that once someone lies just one time, you can assume anything he/she ever says is a lie. the most important thing to me is "moral fiber". i dont juge people for what they do or have, just simply by their character. its the single most important attribute a person can have.
4). lastly, a story should always add up. this one certainly doesnt.
It must be a lot of work keeping all your id's over several different message boards straight and remembering your stories on each board. Do you have a personal assistant that helps you out with this type of thing? What's with the desire to be a part of every sportscard message board anyway? It's like those guys that spend their whole day calling various different radio talk shows so they can hear their voice on the radio and feel important.
also - interesting that this phillie phanatic character shows up out of nowhere, trying desperately and obviously to bury the "EB is a turd" thread, and can't help but diss a leaf, autographed, numbered to 50 rookie card of mark mulder, calling it hilarious in the mail call thread....
now let me point out some obvious things:
1 - pete rose played for the phillies or something.
2 - EB collects delmon young bowman rc refractors numbered to 50. or he used to until he either gave them away or sold them or wtfe the current story is. personally with a baby on the way i think it might have been a nice idea to save them for him/her, but that's just the "way I am." would a collector of this nice numbered to 50 autographed rookie card have a smug attitude of superiority when they saw a lesser card that was pretty much the same thing as theirs, only not quite? who knows.. probably.
3 - pete rose bears a striking resemblance to fred flintstone.. ok this one doesn't pertain but it is still very true.
4 - nobody had ever seen that phillie phanatic guy until today, when he appeared and starts posting up a storm..
am i out of line in suspecting that phillie phanatic is yet another shill for this EB, who has admittedly used "hundreds" of ebay id's even though there is absolutely no good reason for it? how stupid do you thnk we are?
by your own admission, you are a liar. For your own good, it may be best to move on. This board has some of the most savvy collectors anywhere in the world, and they have memories like elephants......

"Philly" refers to the city, not the MLB team. I am a fan of all Philadelphia teams. Read the ID again and compare it to the one you believe to be mine.
Since 1995 I have lived 125 miles south of Tampa, and again my name is not Jeff or anything close to what you imply.

I'll repeat that a number of board members have traded with me, and I have purchased and sold cards with members. They know my full name and address. It ain't Jeff buddy.
Why the attack? How is it that you have me mistaken for someone else?
Truly friend, you should give it up.
<< <i>i don't suppose we'll get lucky enough that you get yourself banned from psa for life.... >>
LOL, try if you like jr.
<< <i>right how old are you again EB? 31 i think you said in one place.. then another age in another place.. but then we've already determined that nearly everything you say is a lie.. my point is, if you're 31 years old, you really shouldn't be calling anyone Jr.. or is this yet another lie you've been caught in? >>
Yep, you go right ahead and make anything you like I am 31 and never said any different. Ummm..unless it was a post from last year..I would have said 30.......smart guy.
As far as the hundreds of ebay accounts, thats just being shady, not buying the stories your spewing about that and don't really even care. Your just sounding like a blowhard to me.
<< <i>Am I understanding this right ? EB has invested 30K in Delmon Young rookies? Thats just being a fool, plain and simple. No if's and's or but's about it. From what I've read your 31, married with a baby on the way and your out dropping 30K on volatile rookie cards. Not very smart, but I guess thats a given. Ever heard of JOE CHARBONEAU !

You don't agree with my choice of card purchases and how I spend my money????!! I am crushed!! (yea, ok) lol
And I thought this place was different from beckett LOL Nothing but the same....and SoFlaPhilly is Jeff Novell from Clearwater, Florida.

First of all, I believe that Jeff Novell is from Tampa. Second, the other guy has been here a long time posting under the SOFlaPhilly name. Jeff has posted here before, but not under that name. They are both Phillies fans, if that makes you feel any better.
here is what you looked like when delmon young got suspended:
here is what you will wear on monday fighting criminals on ebay:
and finally after a tough day of providing truth and justice to the world, it will be time for a little relaxing "role play" with a $4.99 a minute friend who has a 900 phone number. sadly for you $30,000 goes faster in this manner than with baseball card purchases.
so the whole 'my entire collection for sale' thread was a lie to throw people off your trail, too?
Lee
now let me point out some obvious things:
This board has some of the most savvy collectors anywhere in the world, and they have memories like elephants......

ill take that as a complement

It was meant as one to all!

"Philly" refers to the city, not the MLB team. I am a fan of all Philadelphia teams. Read the ID again and compare it to the one you believe to be mine.
Since 1995 I have lived 125 miles south of Tampa, and again my name is not Jeff or anything close to what you imply.
EB, you are way off base.
Move on.
