    haha, nice work by PA_andrews.

EB, do everyone a favor and move on. Find another board to ramble on. You've been exposed.

Nobody is buying your excuse about creating dozens of ebay accounts to mask your buying of "hard to find" cards. Do you think you're talking to a bunch of idiots that just stumbled on the Intraweb? That nonsense might work with newbies who don't know anything about buying and selling on Ebay, but give the posters of this board a little credit, will ya?

No, let 'em have their fun. People love a good bit a gossip, rumor and conspiracy theory. This is typical beckett behavior.

<< <i> I am not a Star Wars collector, but that's a pretty cool idea. I don't think most people collected those cards in the 70's. Most kids just played with them. I am a '33 Goudey collector. I buy most of the cards raw and get them graded. Then I try to upgrade gradually. I've had pretty good success doing this (with the exception of 1 scam) I am also into so 'modern vintage' or 'post war' but much more sporatic than the Goudey's. I'm into the pitchers like Koufax, Ford, Spahn, and Feller. I also like Mays, Mantle, and Yaz. I am just not as much involved in collecting those cards yet. I am also starting quite a baseball collection. Mostly Mays balls. I've never submitted them, but they are all probably 9's or 10's. I don't know much about grading baseballs. >>

    Ryan-

Are you working on a Goudey set? I am not that familiar with pre WWII stuff with the exception of the big ticket, famous cards. Those Mays balls sound cool, you should have them graded/authenticated. I'm not too big on the game today and don't follow it closely anymore. I got out of collecting in about '89 when things took a turn. I got back into cards as a progression from my vintage unopened star wars action figure set.

Lastly, just because you don't like my changing my secondary ID ecery few weeks...means nothing. If oyu had a $1,000 card pushed up to almost $3000 on you becuase people were aware of your bidding habits...you'd look into alternative bidding methods also.

EB ever hear of a snipe service?

My view on all this is simple.

You did come here a few weeks ago and gave the impression that you were new to ebay. It was regarding the 71 Rose card. In that post you said that you only had 7 feedback and that if you were to get a re-tally neg that it would not matter , that you could start all over. It was those words that gave the impression (to me at least) that you were new to ebay. You also had, if I remm a very low post count here and that also gave the appearence of being new here as well. Then in another thread you said something to the effect that you had been on ebay for years. It was in that thread I believe that I asked you if in fact you were new to ebay. I never followed up on it so I have no idea if you did reply. It really does not matter if you are new to ebay or not. What matters is perception.

this argument holds no water here.. don't flatter yourself, there are millions of buyers on ebay.. but WE'RE the conspiracy theorists? If they're aware of your buying habits, it won't matter what name they're exepecting, they'll set the price accordingly so that if you want the card, you pay them what they want.. or, you could just not pay, leave them a negative, and start a new ebay id.. your call

the BEST CASE SCENARIO here is that you are a rude bully who doesn't care who they step on and tarnishes reputations that people have worked years to build up.

edited to add: do you seriously expect this bunch of expert, world class collectors to believe that people jack up their prices because they are expecting a new buyer with 5 feedback???? you have got to be kidding us.

    Wow!

I come home and this is on the tube?

I'm trying to sort thru this but don't think it will be ez but certain things I do know:

    1. Pandrews is NOT a troll.

    2. Incugator made some mistakes - his big fault was his persistence - I would consider starting over.

    3. EB31 - seems like a good guy but all those ID's? The jury is out.

We all make mistakes here - I have apologized on many occasions. But, I don't totally agree with Montana that people here will totally bully a situation - one has to set themselves up for than kind of ridicule.
And the Incugator was his own staightman on that one.

  • Scott,

I have started putting together a Goudey Set. I try to do it for las ow of a cost as possible. Buying nice raw cards at shows or on ebay and get them graded. Usually, I get 2-4's and simply resell them, but when I get a 5 I put it away. Usually about 1 in 25 is a 5, but since I have lots of time on my hands (just recovering from shoulder surgery) I can do it. And it still works out cheaper than simply buying 5's. Sometimes I find a good deal on a 5 though.

I just thought that I should remind everyone that this thread is supossed to be about ME!!!

Steve, I hear you. ...yes I said I had 7 feedback and it didn't matter...why? because that ID was my secondary ID that I change often...so it wouldn't matter. I never said I was new....if fact, when asked I immediately replied that assumption was incorrect.

I have been cordial in answering all of pandrews questions....which now he has turned into a witch hunt. I have nothing to hide and in fact openly admitted to how I run my Ebay buying. I see nothing wrong with it...if anyone else views it as inappropriate (to keep changing an ID), they are entitled to their opinion.

The most important fact here is that I have never been involved in a deal gone wrong...such as a theft, fraudulent sale or purchase..etc Which is what it seems pandrew is trying to allude to.

My practices may be "odd" at best...but there is certainly nothing fraudulant about what I do. Ask the gentleman that I spent $17,000 (all personal checks) with a few months ago...I am sure that he would be more than willing to vouch for my credentials. (Ebay ID Workout pro)

So, am I on the defensive? Of course. I don't appreciate someone trying to make me look like I did something wrong when in fact I have not.

End of discussion as far as I am concerned,

I would base that on how much you will snipe.

If a lot, I would opt for unlimited snipes for a monthly fee - otherwise, it may be cheaper to pay for each snipe you place.

I like it mainly cause I always forget to look and miss out on some cool stuff.

    Don't know.

I use EZSniper since I rarely buy anymore - and when I do, it's small items and not a lot. They charge by the snipe with a % I believe.

So if you are gonna buy expensive stuff - I think the unlimited service is the best way to go - there's a lot of people with way more experience.

There are free services but their snipe settings are weak - the better the service, the closer to the end of the auction they lay down the bid I believe.

I would check some old threads on sniping.

We also got into a great argu...I mean debate about the "morality" of sniping.

Is this a great place or what?

Are you for real? Morality of sniping? lol That's pretty pathetic. I am just old school and typically prefer to sit and watch the auction I am bidding on..I like the rush image But I miss out on a ton of auctions...especially lately since my wife is expecting..we have been out and about, planning things, visiting family ..etc I could have used some sort of snipe service this past week. EB-

Why is this even an issue, if you're selling everything (like you said you are in your post on the BST forum)? Why concern yourself with sniping services if everything must go?

Then, when someone offers to buy something from you, you insult him and post the PMs on the public board?

    Poor taste, sir.

And here. I've been paying JustSnipe $5/month for a couple months already. It's the only way to bid. Before setting a Max bid, I try to put a little reasoning behind it -- what's the budget like; how hard is it to find an auction for the same item for less; etc. Also, when I see how many Current Orders I have at one time, then it helps me to keep things under control. It's too easy to get swept up in the moment of a hot item ending in "<1"!

Again...how hard is it for you to understand that I switch my 2nd ID often. I guess I have to spell it out for you......I use an ID to buy 1 or 2 things and then request that it be closed, then switch to a new ID to avoid prices being run up on me.

as a viewer to this thread the thing that troubles me is that you have enough of a reputation and "buying pattern????" that people intentionally run up bids on you? how smart are these "price-jackers" or how simple are your bids?

then again why don't you snipe?

100 id's is two years says you are not normal. not normal often can be equated to not trustworthy. if your reputation is not worth a few pennies that it would cost to snipe than you deserve all of the insults and acqusations thrown at you.

my impression of you is that you live in your parents basement wearing a different super-hero costume each day out there fighting crimes committed by ebay trolls. you have few if any friends so you use these forums for attention and to start controversy. you have a handful of pete rose cards (only one pre-1970) the earliest PSA 9 is 1977. i can tell you right now no one is going to kick your door down for that set that may be worth $400 on a good day from a drunk buyer. nobody is going to confuse you with MOSH.

i would also like to know how you demolished the delmon young market? were you the one who told him to throw the bat at the ump? i never new there was a delmon young market.

EB, I thought it was odd that such a new user - you just joined last month - was so vociferous in his attack of another new member. Whatever credibility you may have built here is long since gone. I suggest you slither back to whatever message board you haven't been banned from, if it exists. How did you manage to get banned from The Bench AFTER announcing you were leaving the hobby? And if you left the hobby, why are you here??? Too many contradictions.
