How about dem Mets Part doux

WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Solar throws a 2 hit shutout. Mets keep on rolling. I know it was against the D'backs who are reeling as of late, but hey you got to beat up on guys when they is down.

I love that Mets team, actually I hate the Mets but I have been saying for awhile now that they could win it all this year. One of the biggest things they did was get some protection for Beltran. Less pressure off him and he has been doing much better than last year. I hate em' but watch out for the Mets......As far as beating up on a team that is reeling (reeling...that has got to be a new word) that is the mark of a great team, beating the teams that are down and holding your own against good teams.

I'm right there with you on the Mets perkdog - I have thought all along this was their year in the NL. Who is this kid that threw the 2-hitter last night? Never heard of him...

I heard El Duque pitched a gem the other night too. Wish I would have seen, he is still my favorite pitcher in baseball.

Steve - The Mets got every break possible today, at least through the first 5 innings. I always enjoy watching Pedro pitch and how he only gave up one run today in 5 innings was difficult to fathom. He had no fastball, his curve was not sharp, his cutters did not look good and yet only one run. He even walked the pitcher after being up in the count 0-2. The only pitch that looked like it was working was his change. Although it is nice to see he got 13 runs support which is probably as much as he got in his last 6 starts while he was in the game.
  • WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
That is exactly why baseball is so great. On Monday last i pitched, was cruizing and the bottom fell out for me. Friday night i brought a perfect game into the 5th inning. Settled on a 2 hitter. I felt my stuff was better on Monday.

Pedro pitched some great games in May and won not one. Today, he gets all those runs. It balances out.

we are now 7.5 up on the phillies. 7-1 on this road trip all against good teams. Mets are for real!

i think the braves are done. cant see a 2nd half run this year. they have 2 good pitchers in smoltz and hudson. and smoltz is starting to show his age. there bullpen is a mess. and andruw and chipper arent doing much this year.

i am way more worried about the phillies then the braves. phillies lineup is pretty damn good.

why dont the phillies try to get a pitcher like willis or zito, or whoever else is out there. by the break jason schmidt might be available and im sure a couple of others.

i wouldnt be surprized if the braves trade smoltz by the break.

The phillies are freaking weak when it comes to pulling the trigger on a big name. I mean we can give away raw talent and get crap in
return, but we can't do it the other way. I can't believe how much talent we waste. I would LOVE to have Willis on the mound, he might
even be the missing link, but there is no way the Phils managment will have the balls to do it.

Do they think we can win a ring with a rotation of half kids and half bums?...you betcha

Abreu or Burrell needs to be traded. I still think Madson is a good pitcher after last night actually.

Good to see the Mets doing well. I just wish some of the guys on WFAN would stop complaining that every Yankee fan is sitting on the edge of their seat waiting for the Mets to crumble....it just is not true, myself and many others I know root for the Mets to do well. I enjoy watching a good group coming together as a team.
