Thanks, but I'll tell you what- I am totally mesmerized by yours. I didn't even know hair detail like that (above the ear) existed on these high relief dollars. Your's almost looks like a Presentation Strike.

Edited to add: I'd be tempted to look into that and see if it isn't some type of after hours proof or whatnot as that strike is certainly one of a kind.

I never knew such a coin existed? A presentation strike? Got any information on that? Thanks in advance

Studying your coin- it looks super deep dish (not just the typical) and the rim is almost squared off (at least part of it, per the photo). I'm not blowing smoke. This isn't my series so allow greater minds to prevail, but my gut would have me looking at any and all posibilities... Breen? Other works?

    Anyone?
Or, am I seeing more than there is here?

    Edited to add:

I thought so too Pat, then looking at the hair and seeing the waves of hair look like they were painted by Van Gogh makes me wonder if there is either a special strike or possibly post mint enhancement going on.

I would sure hope there is no post mint enhancement going on...

Supposedly the VAM-1-H satin proof dies were used for later busness strikes as were the VAM -1-F correlated to the matte proofs. image

I'm with braddick. That is an amazing strike with great color, bruceswar. Nice blue rim tone is hard to come by on these. Yours isn't too bad either, Dave. Very nice, guys.

Bruce's is a great example, but with the lustre and rims it possesses, I don't think it's anything more than a very well struck piece. I still want it image

Here's a toned one I owned until about a year ago. When I put it up on this site for comments it got mixed reviews. I was about ready to put it in my collection when someone bought it at the last show that I had planned to offer it for sale. It was in a PCGS MS-64 holder.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
