The SUPER CD's are a group of varieties much like the TOP 100 and HOT 50 collections. The SUPER CD stands for 'Clashed Dies'. It is a group of 25 varieties that have extraordinary clashed details that are very interesting and in many cases very hard to find.

You can upload them to CU but the images will have to be under 50K in file size. Then to display them, just click on the picture button and type in:
The trouble with VAMs is that if the concept of collecting them really takes off, it could screw up the silver dollar market for neebies and casual collectors the same way Cohen, Sheldon and Newcomb numbers AND even of greater concern die states have screwed up the half cent and large cen market.
If you would like to form a nice date set of large cents, you have to have a zillion dollars to do it. So many coins are tied up in variety and die state collections that the is not much left for the people on middle class incomes. I know because it drove me out of half cent die variety collecting. I looked at the holes in my collection; saw how many coins the big collectors were soaking up; and knew that there was no room for me in that market.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I doubt that is going to happen in Morgan dollars as the vast majority of varieties are not being pursued. The TOP 100, HOT 50 and SUPER CD collections are only a fraction of the number of Morgan dollar varieties that exist. For the 'average' collector who is simply looking to put together a date and mint mark set, there will still be thousands of VAM's that the 'advanced' collector is not going to be after. Those individuals paying a premium for a variety that is more interesting and more rare is not after the common 'VAM'. There will be pleanty of 'average' coins around for the 'average' collector to look for. They just want the date and mint mark.
I do believe that VAM varieties are going to continue to climb in popularity and value. Of course why would you NOT collect them now? Even though there are those varieties that are already worth THOUSANDS, there are still examples out there to be found and newer varieties (like the SUPER CD's) that are just taking off in popularity. Now is the time to get in on the fun of varieties. I see them similar to buying IBM when it was a brand new company. Complaining about everybody owning a computer is SILLY. Buying stock in the computer company before its price explodes is SMART.
Interestingly many of those who readily accept VAMs are the same ones who trash more modern coins with catchy nick names like Speared Bison or Up/Down leaf.
In the end people should collect what they want and not worry about what the other guy collects.

That's an interesting assertion. . .I would suspect the opposite be true. Can you name any VAM collectors who have trashed modern varieties and point out where they did so?

Good point. I collect stupid cheap little widgets with cracks in them. Who am I to be judging someome else on their choice of what to collect?
Proudly upholding derelict standards for five decades.
I know we're mostly talking MORGAN VAM's here.. but I thought I'd give my .02.... and why I think "VAM" collecting as a whole offers the "little guy" superiority, at least in registry sets.....
VAM collecting has been around for many years... I'd say 95% of all of the hard coins in very high grades have been found and/are known. For instance, I dont think another 1923 tail in 64 or a 1922 field break in 64 will EVER be made in the Peace $ series.... That's just my opinion, but I dont think I'm too far off with that statement and I'm sure that passes on to many Morgan VAMs as well... how many more MS-62 "King of VAM's" will be made?.......mmmm... none....
I like VAM's because it doesn't allow the rich guy to have the greatest set, plain and simple.....EVERY other registry set has been build by a rich guy (reread that). You cant go to a dealer and give them $10,000 for a VAM you need and get it within a day/week/month. Right now, I bet (If I had the $) I could buy 10 top pop coins in the Peace $ series....there, I'm done.... it took me a day and I have only 14 left to complete my set..... that's why I love VAM collecting, none of the guys with unlimited funds will catch us.... why do you think you dont see them building sets in the registry? Simple....
Once you see some of these sets complete, I wouldn't be surprised if these heavy hitters came in and offered huge $ for our sets for their "supersets".... why, because they have the $..... secondly, they know that the coins in your set are/may be some of the hardest to come by if you are building a set in the top 5 of all time... Thirdly... they will never be able to build a VAM set unless they "do the legwork" but like I siad, most of the hardest coins in the highest grades are gone... so them building a #1 or #2 set now doesn't work for them... sure, they may be able to find one or 2 in very high grades... but how many coins does that leave.....
Even without the date and mint mark I can tell you what you have is an 1882 CC VAM 6A. It is the example photo of clashing Leroy Van Allen used in the big VAM book.
I collect Morgans and must say that VAMs don't do it for me either----but so what--if others enjoy them I can only say good for them. Keeps them off the street and out of trouble.

Out of trouble...I think the VISA bill and mother nature hits my wife at the same time of the month.
