SGS GRADING COMPANY

To Keep this short, a member on this site stated that SGS was a fraud. I will be listing auctions that are SGS graded, they are sure doing good for being a fraud.

8370262819
8370263929
8370265222
8370266033
8370608421

These are just a few, but the member on this board was not honest in his perception of SGS. They are not slabs that people put coins in, they are a legitmate company.

So to all of the doubting Thomas's out there in cyberspace who can only participate in the conversation in these chat rooms but who have no money to buy, stop spreading lies about a legititmate grading company. RIght now they are averaging more per coin than a PCGS graded coin.

    Just say no.

I wouldn't call them a fraud, but I would call them a service one should avoid.

That is dead wrong. In each case, a PCGS certified coin would bring more, and in some cases, multiples of those prices.

If you are going to try to make a point/case, you should have your facts and figures straight first.image

What a crock of $hit. As Mark pointed out, PCGS coins of these grades would sell for multiples of these prices.

All this shows is that SGS (and the seller) have scammed users with 2, 31, 164, 2, 12, and 2 feedbacks respectively out of good money by hyping SGS graded coins on e-bay.

All you've shown is that SGS is helping scam artists do their dirty work.

You're new e-bay handle wouldn't bee swimming19550, would it Ernie? A second question, if you are in fact swimming19550, how well do you sleep at night knowing you rip people off?...Mike

  • Wow. I suspect some people who win your auctions will quit the hobby when they try to sell those coins. You have a lot of nerve to imply that SGS grades to the same standards as PCGS.
  • image is over early today. What does SGS stand for?
  • relayerrelayer Posts: 10,570

Wow - you sure have good eye for submitting. All those coins are super gem grades.

I assume SGS holders are tamper resistant and that SGS also backs their grades with a money-back guarantee. Is that true?

Those sure are some mighty fine deals.

But how can you afford to give away such expensive coins at such a low price?

You must be losing a fortune.

Does it make you mad that the people on eBay are ripping you off so bad?

I found this gem on the SGS website....

We are now Certifying and Authenticating some different Circulated-type coins.
These coins, being circulated, would not benefit from being graded, but would
benefit from being certified. With SGS you know it's Authentic.

I have an extensive data set of actual sales prices realized for Morgan dollar VAMs at auctions during 2005 and 2006, including eBay, Heritage, Teletrade, Superior, and Bowers & Merena. Only a few of these prices have been for SGS coins, but it is clear to see what the coin-buying marketplace thinks of them. Here are just a few examples:

In December 2005 on eBay an SGS MS66 image 1878 7/8TF VAM 38 sold for $270
In January 2006 in a Heritage auction the same date and VAM in an ANACS MS63 holder sold for $299
Also in January 2006 on eBay the same date and VAM coin in a PCGS MS63 holder sold for $294

In November 2005 in a Heritage auction an 1880-S VAM 9 Morgan graded MS67 by NGC sold for $1,093
In December 2005 on eBay the same date and VAM in an MS67 SGS holder image sold for $178
In January 2006 in a Heritage auction the same date and VAM in an MS67 NGC holder sold for $1,035

In November 2005 in a Heritage auction an 1880/9-S VAM 11 graded MS66 by PCGS sold for $633
In December 2005 on eBay the same date and VAM in an MS67 SGS holder image sold for $76
Also in December in a Heritage auction the same date and VAM in a PCGS MS66 holder sold for $633
Also in December on eBay three different MS66 examples graded by SGS image sold for $133, 100 and $70
Also in December on eBay a PCGS MS63 example sold for $103
    When in doubt, don't.

your so full of it your eyes are brown

i will tell you that grading is an art not a science...and sgs can put anything they want on coins...they can say they are all 70s...great thats their opinion

    but

the real illegality is perpetrated that sell those coins AND REFER TO PRICING GUIDES OF OTHER COMPANIES ...WHICH IS BLANTANTLY FRAUDULANT

    AND FURTHER MORE

WHILE I CANT SAY IF YOUR GUILTY OF FRAUD BECAUSE TO BE GUILTY YOUD OF HAVE TO OF SOLD ONE WHILE REFERING TO OTHER COMPANIES PRICE SHEETS.....I WILL SAY YOUR GUILTY OF ATTEMPTED FRAUD AND CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT FRAUD....ive seen your ebay adds....your only defense in a court of law would be to claim ignorance...of which that sir ...is not an excuse

there is no way you could possibly defend yourself saying you didnt know....all id have to do it supena your cost records...the judge would say....mmmmm you didnt know....with the price you paid!!!...you made how much??? did you think you won the lottery finding these numismatic treasures so cheap???....he will look down his nose and say....havent you learned yet there is no free lunch

now sue me for slander....i love to take people to the hoop for malicious prosecution

in closing i will say the people who sell coins in a grade while refering to price guides of other companies in the same grade where as the profits are so far off the charts are 100% commitng a felony

    monsterman

ps.....im the only one with a bonafide w/c d-mint in ms67 as there is and has been for 20 years only one!!! and i own it..not you
