Two very tough games to pick. Well here goes...

    Broncos
    Panthers

steelers but can we wait till the line goes to 3.5? or down?

seahawks -4 not my official picks yet..

  • << <i>steelers but can we wait till the line goes to 3.5? or down? >>

yeah, i see what you mean. pinnacle has it at denver -3, but for juice, and other sites have pitt +3.5 for about the same juice. i think it's fair to say you can either have denver -3 or pitt +3.5.

seattle is -3.5 everywhere i looked - i do believe they opened at -6, but i imagine alexander's status has affected that.
  • Both underdogs for me, standing at 4 points:

    Steelers +3
    Panthers + 3 1/2

    Denver -3
    Seattle -3.5

    Denver
    Seattle

The two games I've picked wrong so far have been going against Carolina so I'm sure they'll lose this week.

Edited to change pick see below

Steelers + points - How could anyone not root for Jerome Bettis ?
Panthers + points - Is Shaun Alexander ready to go all out or will he play careful ?

    denver -3.

going against the public i think..
  • CardsFanCardsFan Posts: 1,093 ✭✭✭
I'm changing my pick to Seattle. I'm not going against their home streak. So it's Denver Seattle.
  • I too will switch to Seattle.

    Pitt
    Seattle

BTW if both dogs happen to win has there ever been a super bowl wfeaturing two wildcards?

The answer is...no. There's been quite a few times now that a wildcard has made the SB, but never two...

But in this crazy NFL season, who the yell knows.

About the game pick switches...I switched to the Bears last week along with a "guaranteed win" and it turned out to be the kiss of death. The Bears sent me a nasty e-mail about jinxing them - LOL

I'm going with the Steelers and the Seahawks.

That was a nice one. You should take the money and run.
  • That was a nice one. You should take the money and run

heh, yeah I didn't count on winning that. I did put some on under 21.5 2nd half - it's better to be lucky than good!

and thanks Neal - nice job with today's games!

Here are the standings (bear in mind that picks counted as 2 points today):

The Superbowl counts as 3 points so technically anyone with less than 6 points is out image

We need a tie breaker in case there is a tie in the top spot. How about a total points in the game?

good idea, everyone should pick a side and guess the total

the sides are steelers -4 or seahawks +4
  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,005 ✭✭✭✭✭
We might also need a tie breaker for the bottom spot in which I am a candidate. How about the one who is off by the most total points in the game? - LOL

Maybe for the bottom spot a prize would be a Ryan Leaf football card - LOL

    MY OFFICIAL PICK
    Steelers -4

    Total - 43

    Steelers 26
    Seahawks 17

Okay, so no one else has a chance to win, my official pick will be Seattle +4. Kind of mean isn't it?? image

Of course, I guess I have about 12 days to change my mind. I'll know more than I'll ever need to know about these two teams over two weeks. I never did like the extra week. Guess I don't need to give a score unless I change my mind.

    Good luck.

    Shawn.

hey, it could come down to points.

By the way, if I win give the cards to a young kid ... someone you may know, and get em hooked on the hobby.

    Steelers - 41 points.
  • Super Bowl Pick

    Seahawks +4

    Final Score - Seahawks 24, Steelers 20

TTT ... to see if it is okay

Carol - no money is involved

  • BigRedMachine, you still need to guess the total.

    Good luck Neal and Shawn!

<< <i>BigRedMachine, you still need to guess the total.

    Oh, I'm sorry, I guess I misunderstood. Seakhawks 24, Pittsburgh 21, total 45.

I thought the total was to break a tie and that's why I took Seattle, so a tie couldn't occur. (If tied with Neal and he picks pittsburgh and i pick seattle, there can't be a tie, right??)

I guess I should have a total on record in case he switches teams at the last minute.

Best of luck Neal!! Most of the analysts seem to like the Steelers as well. I'd like to see the Bus get a title myself, perhaps the Steelers win by a field goal and won't cover???? image

    Shawn.

    Seahawks 30
    Steelers 23

I'm going with Pittsburgh and 49 points. Not that it matters.

    aconte

P.S. to make it interesting I'll include something for second place points. Otherwise, it is just between
bigred and 1420 for 1st place. I may split my prize offerings (first place gets choice).

Good luck all and enjoy the Super Weekend!

<< <i>P.S. to make it interesting I'll include something for second place points. >>

....meaning a prize for the guy who finishes 2nd.

  • << <i> (If tied with Neal and he picks pittsburgh and i pick seattle, there can't be a tie, right??) >>

I was thinking if Pitt won by 4 points then both picks would push, and you'd be tied.

Here is what I posted before - and I mean it

By the way, if I win give the cards to a young kid ... someone you may know, and get em hooked on the hobby.

Hopefully everyone will do this, as the cards would mean more to them than me. A local childrens hospital would be cool too.

I used to donate an unopened box or two to the Coney Island Hospital's Pediatric Unit....then I got paranoid that the candystripers were steaming open the packs and harvesting the inserts.

So you want us to pass on the disease to children?!

    Seriously though, classy move. image
