I am thoroughly humbled Kyle...thank you.

This might actually get me busy again as I have been slacking for the past several months even though I have been acquiring more material.

For anyone that might be interested, many of the images seen here first have been redone and placed on my web gallery. You can view them at www.KarlGoetz.com I will be taking November and December off from work. At that time I have promised myself that I will lock myself in my office at home and not come out until I have a decent web page created with full text for my collection, patterns displayed, etc., etc...

Thanks again Kyle, I think you have kick-started me...

cacheman

"opus" was the term used by Gunter Kienast to identify each medal. Originally the term was used to define a 'creative work' and it is used primarily, as you know, with works of music. This terminology will not be carried over into the rewritten books when published nor on the website.

If he ever decides to auction his Goetz material, I think it is likely that the catalog will become an important (if not a standard) reference for the series.

Thanks for doing that for me...as for the images, well. let's just say that my recent silence has been caused by my intensive reimaging project. I am in the throes of redoing about 500 images. Why? Well, I had been post editing the images over the past three years using a crappy old monitor...once I started using my new high-res notebook I could see just how bad they all looked...you can see some of the new results on my web gallery as I slowly upload them. The ones with color and clarity are obviously the new ones and I'm not going in any particular order...just pulling a drawer out at a time, drinking lots of coffee, etc., etc....

Two points:

one, your images never looked that bad, not even close to bad; rather nice, in fact downright excellent.

two, my kids were complaining about the downstairs family computer so I got on it to do some much needed maintainance and was shocked by the difference between the quality of its image by comparison to my widescreen notebook. After fiddling for awhile I improved the image but not as good as the NB. Almost the difference between really good analog reception and an HD broadcast.

one day soon (I hope) you'll receive your due for having accomplished a mighty task. Those plaudits will come from your peers but most importantly from (and perhaps unfortunately so) the hobby media. It will take a name with weight to bestow his or her blessing by recognition of your accomplishment in print or by discussion. I think it needs to happen and what better place to start than here?
