WHAT DO YOU HATE THE MOST THIS FORUM ???

One thing that I hate about this forum right now is that people post so much CRAP here right now that many great posts get lost. I needed a little vam help and I posted somthing late last night, this morning my post was on the bottom of page 3 with no response. I'm slowly migrating to NGC forum because of this - the response there is a little slower but at least my post doesn't go to the bottom of page 7 within a day. I stopped reading every post a long time ago (I used to do it in the beginning) but it is too much to handle right now.
I think some member should turn of the computer, get of their butts and go outside and do somthing.
BTW I'm just venting.

There are a lot of talented and knowledgable people here and I'm glad to have a chance to bump into them. However, the endless forum noise is not only distracting and bothersome, I agree that it probably buries a lot of valuable information that could otherwise be utilized.
we need for vam guys posting

Having your thread drop to pg 7 within a day isn't bad, just think of it as a sign of an active community (of friends).
Sometimes a smiley is all a person needs to post, to show they appreciated what someone else wrote.
There are so many specialists here, that what may seem like noise, is really just someone else's interests.

I'd give you the world, just because...
Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.

People who post these types of threads because they have decided what should be popular topics and what should not.

I hate to see bash threads. If someone enjoys moderns
let them have their say. Or varieties or classics or gold etc...
Ofcourse some barbs in jest make it more fun but
unrelenting attitude is another thing.
<< <i>Hey, you bozos that don't like it over here! Come on over to the Open Forum. We have a treat for you all!!!
We have enough clowns over there already.

I agree. At least he could get the title right:

<< <i>I participate on a half-dozen other forums (non-coin related) and people simply posting a smiley face or an "I agree" line would never be tolerated by the moderator. >>
So this tells me you have a half-dozen other forums to go play on if you don't like it here.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
NOTHING is off topic on the open forum. Come on over!!!
This will help to reduce the number of new posts.

<< <i>Whenever, I have a question, before I post, I use the simple keyword search on top of the US Coin forum thread page. For those who are new to the forum, chances are that the topic you want to discuss (in the form of a new thread) has already been brought up at least once in older threads. I once resucitated a thread from 2002.

What? Reduce the number of topics is what it would do. Might as well go over to Sleepy Hollow if thats what you want.
Again, come over to the Open Forum. We're looking for new meat, err, people over there!!

Hey, he needs to get in line, I`m only medium done over there!
The US Coin Forum here is great. I don`t post here as much as I use too but, when I do, the people here often bend over backwards to answer my question(s)!

¡Sí!
I'm just teasing him because he left out a word in the title
And there are also a number of repeat threads of people asking the very same questions.

There are a lot of really good threads and really good questions which just drop out of sight
without any response or with much less than is warranted. I even opened up the thread in
question but hardly felt competent to give a good answer so let it go. There's no simple sol-
ution but perhaps we should all try to give partial answers to entice others to add to it or to
look it up.
There is also a lot of noise but this isn't that big a problem since you don't need to even open
those threads most of the time. Just ignore threads with indefinite titles and obvious OT posts
and threads.
If I'm not interested in the topic, or if the thread does not interest me after opening it up, I move on to the next. If I can offer any advice, I do. If I see a thread that interests me hasn't gotten much response, I often bump the thread to the top. Quite frankly, I don't see the problem, although I think that this discussion is NOT off-topic, and good to have every so often.
<< <i>I rarely post to OT threads like this.

Agreed, except that when you don't have anything to contribute, I hardly think posting "I don't know" adds anything when a question for info is asked. I would come to the conclusion, in the case presented as the reason for this thread, that no one knew, and getting bent out of shape is counterproductive to further discourse.

and misspellings in the title.

I am very empathetic to the concerns of sadysta1 regarding his posts becoming buried amongst the clutter and noise often posted on this forum, but I would be very reluctant to criticize others for their posts. Sadysta1 appears to be a very serious numismatist, seeking answers to his questions, but it would seem almost elitist to criticize others for their 'noise' as being somehow not worthy of posting. We each have differing interests, differing experience, and greatly different reasons for posting on this forum, but no one is any more important than the next. I have often said that there is no right way and no wrong way to collect; we collect whatever interests us, and in a manner that gives us pleasure. It is, after all, a hobby. I have found the search engine on this forum to be quite powerful in locating threads that interest me, and I can easily filter out the others which do not offer me anything of value. I just learned of the trick of responding to your own (or others) posts, with the acronym ttt, to bring it back to the top, where it will be more likely to catch others attention. I have actually responded to a thread from 2003 (I believe) which was on a topic that interested me, and I received a very nice PM response.
I find this forum to be quite valuable, and I have learned a great deal here in the very short time I have belonged. Rather than try to criticize the forum, learn to enjoy it for what it offers, learn to work around the little annoyances, and work to improve it where possible. I am encouraged by the "What I like about this forum" thread that immediately followed this thread. This forum reflects the diversity of people and interests in real life, and should be appreciated for that.
Just my opinion.
There are many things I hate much more than this forum. In fact I don't I don't even hate this forum.
Just OT threads!!!
Joe.

If they want to know the same thing, but in Abbottstown, PA, then I can give an answer!
Then I do a reality check and realize that the US Coin Forum is fine just the way it is. I check out threads that interest me, post threads and replies as the mood strikes and try to limit my time on the Forums since there are lots of other things that life has to offer beyond the hobby of kings. In many respects the Forums are like being in a room with lots of other people. Some you like, some you don't, some of the conversation is interesting, some of it is boring. You can participate actively or you can be a wall flower and just soak in all that is going on around you. Conversing with others who share your interest in the hobby does add to my enjoyment of the hobby and that is not a bad thing.
