After months of not buying anything, I had a busy couple weeks for cards.

This brings my Boog Powell set to 56% (9 out of 16). This was a private deal from someone who found me from the registry.

My Brooks Robinson set also got a push over halfway.

Up until now, I had never owned an Eddie Murray RC. Got a great price on this one. I don't have the patience to do his player set, since it goes into the 90s, but happy to pick a nice copy of this one.

The 1967 Marichal is not a set I'm working on or plan to work on, but the price was too good to pass. One of the corners should've kept it in a 7.5 or 8 holder, but corners don't mean much to me if the eye appeal is this good.

And finally, I've been wanting to delve into pre-war for a while. So a low-grade, well-centered Christian Gentleman fits the bill. Easily one of the top 5 cards in my modest collection.

A surprise purchase at 415. I was expecting 600 plus.

Congratulations - always like when that happens - great card!

Thanks to all for posting the pics, enjoyed looking at them all.

Being old, of course I remember Boog Powell, but unless I'm mistaken
I was watching a game a few days ago and there's another Boog Powell playing now.
Can't remember which team it was.

Edit- It was when KC was in Seattle, he was playing for Mariners. Looks like
he's been sent to the minors sometime after that.

Thanks @LOTSOS ! I need four more cards to finish the set. Right now, I can't locate any of the cards in PSA 6 or better to even try to purchase. I am currently #5 on the registry and if my math is right, I should get #4 with these last cards. Getting into the top 3 is going to take awhile, maybe the rest of my life lol Even if you forget the financials, some of the cards just don't show up. I recently picked up a card that hadn't been on the open market in more than a decade in the particular grade. As this slows down, I am trying to branch out into building a PSA/DNA Ringside set... which will probably be impossible, but fun to try. Those Sabre cards are gorgeous. Love those uniforms!

Those Ringside cards look great. I was working on a raw set 20 plus years ago. If I remember correctly, I had 70-75 cards toward the set. Most were nowhere near as nice as the ones you have. I sold all but a couple when I got away from collecting for several years. I still have a raw Robinson in low grade. Are you going to the National? There will probably be some there.

Thanks, James! I started out building a raw set about four years ago and somehow took the leap to graded. I wish I could go to the Nationals this year, but family/work keep me home. Luckily, I have someone keeping an eye out for Ringside stuff. We really do have some amazing people in this forum.

    Thanks Bill.

It is always nice to snag one. There were two in the last PWCC that I wanted but I was out of my elements working off my phone while school supply shopping with the Mrs. and the kids. Happy to get the one.

This arrived today. It's not a card but I think it qualifies as sports memorabilia. I've been hunting for one for awhile and if you think card prices are all over the map the art world is just as bad. Gallery prices are 5x or more what you can get an item for. :s

1977 Leroy Neiman French Connection it is a signed serigraph artists proof /300. Unfortunately the box wasn't packed all that great and it appears FedEx did their best to stress test the packing right to the point of failure. The frame was bent and glass was cracked. Fortunately it had glass with a coating on it so it kept it relatively intacted and the serigraph wasn't damaged.

Thank you. It was the best PSA 9 that I saw at the show. There was a PSA 10 at one of the auction houses.

Here is my last National purchase for this year.

Technically a July pick up, however came today.this one has a story. This is the first card I bought from eBay."won it" back in 98. No scan in listing as was commonplace back then. Went to post office and got a postal money order. 2 week hold for personal checks was the typical pre PayPal days. Think I originally spent $45. Traded this exact card over a year ago at a local show as part of a trade/cash for my 53 Mantle. This was probably the one that I had a regret about as it is a blazer. Saw it last week listed by local guy. Worked out a deal for a bit more than I had originally paid, however about equal with my trade last year. Thinking about reviewing but just psyched to have it back, you never forget your first time
