Mail Call for July

Stone193Stone193 Posts: 24,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
So what has the mailman brought you lately? I just got these two very nice 52T commons and a raw T3.
I posted these two to offset all the Heritage talk I have done lately.

Some of the 52s have the photo with the halo effect like the 60 leafs.

image

Leo is a gray back variation - had to have something in keeping with Heritage! LOL

image

And the T3 is in pretty good shape - I really like the action shots! Out at Third.

image

So, thanx for viewing and bring on your mail please.

Mike, gorgeous cards! Now which Heritage set are they from? image Here's one that's on its way. I'm hoping PSA will see fit to cross it at par.

Im sure all the vintage guys will love this one, haha. But I did get it in the mail today so I suppose it qualifies!

That's a sweet Ruth! I have a 5 - and most that I have seen are around that area - can't see why it can't cross to a 7 - who knows maybe an 8?!

This is "Mail Call" and not vintage call - show us whatever came in - myself...I'm just as interested in modern as vintage.
Very nice Brady RC - thanx for sharing

Those are beauties! Going to rest at 75% That's like me saying I'm going to take a rest...after I picked up two more T3's and 3 T9's, I promised the same...let's see who holds out the longest? image

Great stuff Mike! I don't collect much baseball but those T3's of yours that you post now and then are pretty captivating.

jrdolan: You should crack it and submit. If it has a good chance at a 8.

    Nothing earthshattering today.
Just three commons with great eye appeal.

Only noteworthy because they give me a chance
to plug the standout seller on eBay that I bought them from : kyshasports

Congratulations on the first HOF'er - Chief Bender! Great card! Prewar vintage is really getting popular!

    Wolf
The 67T set is an all time favorite of mine - bought the set all at once - kind of the wussy way to do it - it was raw - back in 1990 - prices were better then too! The Day card is a nice looking 7 also.

    Envoy
Great looking auto card - with some of the best of the Cards!

    Thanx for sharing these guys
Occasional show and tell brings out the really super stuff. I have made my first submission to PSA for some of my T3s - will scan and show when they come back.

What is that sweet spot going at? I like the way he signed the wood - different from the typical "cut auto" space! Are you going to snatch it? If so, good luck.

Yeah, I know, man. I dunno if it's the pathetic state of the NHL or what, but I figured I'd take a little break from hockey. I'm still looking for a few upgrades for my C56 and '53 Parkie sets and there are still some holes in my V145-1 set, but like the game itself, I guess I'm on indefinite hiatus. I've been tracking some Ice Kings and '30s O-Pee-Chee stuff, though, so I'm sure the bug will bite again sometime soon.

Anyway, cool stuff everybody. Love that Cardinals triple-signed card, envoy.

When we had titles under our names - mine was Game Board Geek...

    That's my major focus.

Been waiting for this game for some time.

    DICEBALL - The Ray-Fair Corporation 1937

It's in nice shape, appears to be complete and has the instructions!

Of interest - the dice were patented back in 1928 - I'm guessing from another dice game. Have not tried to play it, so I have no idea how realistic it is.

Some games result in football scores while others are closer to the real thing.

What got me interested in board games was the "graphics" - I don't have the patience to be in a league or anything like that.
Tho I do play Yahtzee with my wife - she really enjoys board games.

Thanx for viewing and Happy 4th!!!!

Good to see you back, and IIRC you had some sweet stuff so dipping your toe in means a Mantle rookie or PSA 10 Ryan rookie :)

Thanks for the note on the 53 Mantle, and it is one of my favorite cards in my collection. Looks like a high end 8, but has a slight hard to see discoloration near the top of the card. Have turned down multiple offers that were tempting, but I could not find another example to replace it without spending $20k+.

Not sure what I am looking for at the National this year. Would like to find a sweet 2015 CJ Jackson to pair up with the Cobb, but those don't grow on trees. Glad to hear you are back!

Mike - I don't collect games but absolutely love seeing your additions.

The hardest part of collecting for me is finding a focus and stickers my to it.
And I'm constantly tempted to delve into things I know nothing about because they just seem so cool, that I want em.

Fortunately, I've largely narrowed mine down and for the most part stay true, but the "I gotta get me one of those" bug, does occasionally hit. There are so many great collectibles. Staying focused is hard work.

This is my first Tobacco Card. T51 Murad. Not hockey but it is of my alma mater. Cheap ebay buy but it is well centered. Since I have zero experience with cards of this time frame I was kind of surprised by the in hand look and feel. Anyone have an opinion on authenticity based on the scan or any quick tips on how to spot a fake with these?

    Thanks,

Thanx for the kind words guys.

    1952 Wheaties baseball tin

The set of four includes Kiner, Rizzuto, Musial and the tough one - Jackie Robinson.

    4 7/8X5 1/8"

Distribution: directly glued into the side of the Wheaties box - so there's usually seen a hunk of cardboard on the backs.

Just adding this to my "food issue" collection.

Know I should be waiting for the National but this was a nice card at a very fair price.

    Eddie Waitkus - Phillies

    Had a pretty good 11 yr BA at .285 - 2 time AS - 48 and 49.

More noted for having been shot by stalker Ruth Steinhagen - this inspired the writing of The Natural.
