You can't win the lottery if you don't buy a ticket

Joeyuk linked to this in another thread, and I thought it was interesting.

  • Hmmmmm. I have never heard of the existence of such a coin, so commentary from Lincoln experts should be interesting.

    Wasn't one just ceritifed recently,
But hey I give 5000.00 to maybe see
a magic coin. If he tought it was real
maybe send it off to be certified, Just
    a thought.
  • "If coin is not sold no money will be returned. It will be hard to get it certified because up to now their is nothing to compare it to"

    I like that line.

I don't get it. Why wouldn't he just send it in to a tpg service to authenticate it for $50-. Why give up any profits?

A recent book written on Coin Forgeries puts to rest any speculation of authenticity of the 1959 Wheatback cent.

They're fake, yet good enough to have fooled the Secret Service. The craftsman who 'minted' these is serving a life term in a Utah state prison for unrelated crimes.

I haven't read the book but his testimony put it to rest? They totally believe a convicted felon?

From Dr. Sol Taylor : Link

"In 1994 Heritage Galleries of Texas bought a 1959D wheat back cent from a California collector. They sold the coin to Steve Benson for a reported $25,000, but when PCGS President David Hall examined the coin, he declared it to be counterfeit. The coin was authenticated by the U.S. Treasury Department and was later sold for a reported $20,000 to a private collector. No other 1959 (or later) wheat back cent has been discovered or reported to exist."

I believe that the Goldberg's had the coin on display and scheduled to be auctioned in one of their sales (2 or 3 years ago?) but that it was pulled from the sale.

There is ONE WORD for this:

    SCAMimage

This is like the old shell game when you tell a senior citizen that all they have to do is pay $20,000 and in a couple days they will get $100,00 back.

When I clicked on the site I saw NO PICTURE. Don't be a fool. Run away. Run FAR away.

If coin is not sold no money will be returned.

That says it all to me!

In addition, This may be my own prejudice but I get very nervous dealing in large dollar amounts with someone that cannot use proper grammar and/or spelling.

It's one thing when typing a quick reply or email but quite another when you have the time to write out the proposal and it is still full of errors. No deal for me even if legit. I would just expect other problems.

    Hello all,

I thought that was interesting also, what would be the harm in posting a pic (unless it was a scam)?

I'd give you the world, just because...

Speak to me of loved ones, favorite places and things, loves lost and gained, tears shed for joy and sorrow, of when I see the sparkle in your eye ...
and the blackness when the dream dies, of lovers, fools, adventurers and kings while I sip my wine and contemplate the Chi.
