Sometimes people make me so mad!!! E-BAY BIDDER TO BLOCK...

I have a good friend I sell proof sets to (the ones that are close, but not submitting material), and he auctions them on E-bay. Well he puts up a nice 1969 proof set, cameo Kennedy but not DCAM. A board member buys it, and then BÀtches that it is not cameo. Well my buddy is a nice guy and tells him to return the set and he'll ship him another one. The set comes back OPENED! and the Kennedy has been switched! So my buddy calls the buyer who "doesn't recall" opening the set! So for a $5 proof set, he get a returned set that is cracked open, all the long distance phone calls putting up with the jerk and he is out another CAM 69 proof set. I wasn't going to post the auction, but when I was told the set had been cracked open, and the board member said he didn't switch the Kennedy. Well that just frosts my cookie!!!

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Would that create a cameo effect?
<< <i>He is already on my list, although I don't recall why! >>
Ken, he's the one who posted a thread here trashing Tim Puro for supposedly sending him the wrong type of proof 79-S Kennedy. By time things got sorted out, it was determined he was sent the right coin.

That's right. Thanks Eric. This will be a good reminder for all members!

Amazing that someone would attempt to defraud a seller over $8.37. If I was Murphy, I wouldn't come back here anytime soon.

I hope he does come back. I'd really like to hear an explanation for this one.

My thoughts exactly. This has the potential to be a good thread, even if Marty did start it!

It will probably be somewhere along the lines of "someone in the post office switched the coin, I didn't".
I have absolutely no tolerence for dishonesty when trading coins. This guy is a loser in my book.

Yeah, these high dollar items are prone to that.

I advised him to just take the set back, return the guys money, leave hin a newt and then block him from further bidding, but Jerry was worried about his 100% positive feedback. It is a shame (crime?) when people feel they can take advantage of you by dangling a neg at your perfect feedback.

BTW I replied to the wrong post. Cameron's thread (flaminio post) contained a link to eBay's block buyers/bidders list.

I can truthfully say that I did not open the first set and switch JFK's. I don't deliberately switch coins - period! What Jerry sent me was what I sent back to him. He described cameo coins in his auction and I was let down by what he sent. I contacted him about it and he offered to send me another set, which he did. I sent the first one back to him with a bonus coin. Things were fine. Then he called last night saying the case was opened and wanted to know if I opened it. I said No, I don't think so. I opened some other sets to put in my albums, but not his - I would never switch coins like what's implied here. If y'all want to insist that I did then fine.
To think that Jerry is worried about me leaving him negative feedback is wrong - I left him positive feedback on the 17th almost 2 weeks ago.
I'll make this right with Jerry, but what I do is none of anyone's business here. Marty, I know you're looking out for a valued friend and business acquaintance, but you got me wrong on this. I don't switch coins.

No, what you have been doing is actually very much everybody's business here.
Why do you think you are being blocked by so many people??

Would you rather that I make up something for your entertainment?
That's what I said, but you can make up the tone of voice and inflection, hesitation or whatever to make me guilty as you want but I didn't cheat him.

If you look at the picture Marty posted, and then the auction picture, all the coins look the same except the JFK. So the "circumstantial" evidence would suggest the coins were switched, or the JFK in the auction picture was "enhanced" with frost, which I think would be hard to do.

Then you said.
I don't switch coins.
This has nothing to do with the tone, inflection or hesitation of your voice.
It's your inconsistencies.
This case was loose except for one spot. Does this look like a PR69 set that I was supposedly mailed? Is it me or do I see scratches?

There is no grade claim made in the auction description.

I don't look at proof kennedy's unless I have to. : ) But, I think I see die polish lines as opposed to scratches.
"...he is out another CAM 69 proof set."
I was definitely not EVER sent a CAM 69 proof set by anyone in this world! Ever.

Ouch!
Anyway, Jerry is a nice fellow. This is a pretty big thing over such a small set but I don't believe that anyone should switch out a coin. It is a very low thing to do.

Probably not, but no one said including the description that it was PR-69.
