    The bullion eagles are all very nice coins and really show off the quality that the mint is capable of producing. I collect them as they are truely beautiful.

    But I do prefer the original even when they have been beat up a little bit.image

    I think that's only because of the harsh lighting in the photo. If you're talking about modern gold pieces in general, I think the old and the new both look great. Best thing about gold is the way it ages -- it's highly unlikely any gold coin is going to be lost to carbon spots, aggresive tarnish blackening the coin, etc.

    Plus, gold is a heaven-sent metal when compared to the bogus AT and dipping games played with silver coinage. (But gold does have its own unique problems, especially counterfeiting and polishing.)

  • anyone else find the angle of the torch on the newer pieces,...'off', a bit, when compared to the old obv. design? slanting / rather than

    either way, spiffy coins, arguably the "prettiest" obv. of any gold piece around.
