coppercoins.com transformation...

I have made changes to coppercoins.com that might interest some of the folks here. I have begun to include cross references to the FS and Crawford file systems and am working on filling in the default "unknown" text with proper die numbers. Any of you who have visited the site on a relatively regular basis will know that I have been crossing to CONECA and Wexler numbers wherever possible for a number of years. I felt that adding these two systems to the cross reference list would be of great benefit to us all, so I went through the six hour transformation yesterday to incorporate the change.
I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.
Thanks,
I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.
Thanks,

Believe me, plans are in the works to eventually do something similar to that.

I thought you were leaving coins and selling everything?

This are going rather well for me these days. I have been watching my problems, have had doctors watching my problems, and I am coming out of most of them ready to work. My injury has subsided to a point that I am currently asymptomatic, just hoping there are no recurrences. I am working again and feel pretty well. Thanks for the well wishes and concern. You guys don't know how much that helped me pull through the worst of times.

Yes, well people do have the right to change their minds, especially when they weren't in their right mind when they said it in the first place. I have a number of problems, and like I said before, they are being treated.
I am selling or getting rid of about 90% of what I have which would still leave me with over 5,000 coins...but the things I said in here while at the lowest of my lows has been recanted and apologized for in here prior to now. I don't think there's any reason for you to dwell on it.

I was just asking.

My post with the question was before your post about being better.

<< <i>It's not an "I'm leaving" thread, so no reason to keep this one in your arsenal Kiefer. >>
I have no arsenal. Read my above post. I said welcome back and I meant it. You still are very touchy I can see.

It's a work in progress...much more to come that is not yet in place as you have noticed. I would advise patience on areas not yet complete and in the meantime enjoy all the great content that is already there. The forum is probably a good place to start with any general questions you have about site navigation and content; not a huge number of active posters there but the ones who are active are very friendly and helpful IMO.

A person can feel things at times and express them here and it would be nice if you did not throw it back in their face. Chuck is a very respected part of this community and has vast knoweledge in his speciality. You have more then once chosen to take the low road towards him. Why is this???
Please just accept a person can have highs and lows and accept them at that. No need to attack at every opportunity.
Now if you prefer to attack me God bless you, if it makes you feel better. Just leave someone alone who is contributing to this community. Thank You Joe
Believe it or not, there is no "them." That's all "me" authoring, publishing, printing, editing, photographing, etc.
I do have to give a BIG heartfelt credit to BobP and Coop, two guys who have been there with me for years, but still I am the ONLY database designer, programmer, graphic editor, book writer, accountant, CEO, CFO, C-whatever, etc.
I have been working on that site alone for the past five years - only within the past two years have I had the help of others with the photography, but rest assure that well over 50% of the 4,500 photos on the site were taken by myself - most of the attributions and die listings were performed by either myself or a good friend of mine...just the two of us.
In addition to that I have had to work on many other projects for a number of other people just to feed the family - and yes, I do have a family. Atop that, I had a full-time corporate job through most of that period, and I also started and finished college during the same period, graduating with two degrees. I often keep myself busy 12-16 hours per day on average, and have spent a number of all-nighters getting stuff done, studying, tutoring people, teaching at the college, working, and finding time to make sure my wife and son don't forget who I am. And even then I find time to write books and articles, travel to coin shows at least 10 times a year to keep finding stuff to add to the site, and THEN I run auctions from time to time on eBay and accept packages of coins through the mail to attribute for people.
Alas, having a site of that scope with one single author, one single employee (myself), one attributor (me), and one designer, programmer, graphics editor, and publisher (all me) is a very daunting task that most people wouldn't even venture to imagine finishing, let alone the fact that nobody has to pay a red cent to use it...it's completely free.
If you would like some help with the parts of the site that do work, all you have to do is ask. Let me know what you collect, what you want to collect, and how you'd like to collect it, and I would be happy to talk with you about it and help you along. Believe it or not, even with the schedule I have already discussed above, I have been known to travel up to 400 miles from home JUST to help collectors get set up properly.
In summary I must add that I started the site six years ago with a dream and very little knowledge of programming. The site has gone through a number of transitions in that time, but still today it rests on a glass foundation of spaghetti code written by an inexperienced programmer with little knowledge. Since writing the version that exists today, I have learned a lot about programming and know how to do it right, but since teaching and developing sites for people are my family's only sources of income, I do not have the time to sit and spend the 60 plus days it would take to rewrite the code for a free site so it can expand properly. I hope that one of these days that time will come.
Please feel free to write, my email address is below. I'm only writing this manifesto so you and others can understand that I know the site is less than 25% complete, and there are many features that work half way or not at all. There are, however, many features that do work, and for what they are, they are the best resource there is - period. Not only that, they are also free.

Glad to see you are back (at least on occassion) and that your health is approving.
Keep up the good work on your site ... but most importantly keep your chin up , and your health in check.
Best Regards!!
ps ... and OT ... and probably not worth repeating ... but Cameron, if you are reading this post ... I agree with what Joeyuk said ... and I applaud his tactful delivery ... except being the sailor that I am (was) ... I would say it a little different ... sometimes you just need to just STFU
