Boiling coins? Huh? Can I use it on my 93S AU dollar?

What's this I'm reading about "boiling a coin". I did a search in this forum and couldn't find anything concrete about it. What type of cleaning does this do? How does it work? Should one ever use it?

By the way, I was just kidding about the 93S dollar. I don't even own one. Just did that for shock value...sorry.

I would think the heat might cause toning of some sort. I can't wait to read posts from those who've tried.

Thanks, Cameron. Actually, this is where I just read this initially and the thread really doesn't say much about it or point out exactly what it does (like multiple picture samples, if possible).
