  • Óin

Óin is a name of two fictional characters of J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy world of Middle-earth.

Óin was the son of Glóin, and succeeded his father as King of Durin's folk, reigning from 2385 to 2488 Third Age. He lived with his kindred in the Ered Mithrin, and saw the takeover of Moria by Orcs, which had multiplied by then as a result of Sauron's growing presence in the Mirkwood.

A much later Óin accompanied Thorin Oakenshield on his quest in The Hobbit. He was the son of Gróin, the grandson of Borin, the younger son of King Náin II, and so could claim direct descent from Durin the Deathless himself. Glóin, another of Thorin's companions, was his brother. Óin was later lost when he journeyed with Balin to reclaim Moria.

    Smartbutts....

It is obvious that he accidentally left off GR and only typed OIN.

Everyone wants to be a GROIN Grader!

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

How many coin graders are spared the duties of cursory glances at thousands of modern submissions? This is would be a dream job for those with enough seniority to examine/roll the dice/shoot darts only on pre-1970 coins.

  • I nail the series I know but Buff's send me for a loop as some other series. At $250K I think you have to be at the top of your game, the entry people grade 5000 SAE's and they don't make $250K. $250k would be a pay raise for me, by more than 2x so it sounds attractive but at $100K it is not. Who knows if it would be cool or not.

What?! Coin graders make a quarter of a mil?!

  • Hmm.. you get to look at coins all day, even some nice ones.
You get to go on frequent boondogles to warm, sunny areas
(accompanied by attractive ladies, I hear) with luxury suites,
fat expense accounts, rubbing elbows with rich and famous
celebrity collectors. You get paid well into six figures and you
probably get dealers to buy you dinner once in a while image

..this is when I usually wake up.

I would much rather be a buyer or even possibly a grader/cataloger for a large firm, than an actual grader at a tpg.
