Hoping for the $400 price range.
    .
You, me and everybody else is "Hoping for the $400 price range." Greysheet bid is $565. Why don't you buy a Greysheet and check prices before you make an @$$ of yourself with these lowball requests?

  • I bought a AG03 in NGC for $475 a month ago. Good luck finding any decent coin under $550. It won't happen.

Awww...take it easy on him guys. Facrissake, he isn't hurting anyone by asking, is he? All he said is he's "HOPING" to get one for that, not expecting.
  • True. I'll keep my eyes open for one in that price range and then quickly buy it.

yes but he should catch the hint about doing his homework.

kinda like people bashing coin shop owners who lowball people who walk into the shop on stuff. What if someone inherited a 16d like he wants and sells it to him for the low price he listed?

Would we then attack him for "ripping" a coin from someone that does not know any better?

Perspective: I just traded a common date St. Gaudens for an Anacs (no problems) AG-3 16D, so, if you are limited to the $400 price range, perhaps you should look into the FR-2 level.

Hey, if it's in an ICG holder, I'll be all the happier. image Heck, I'd probably even take it in a PCGS/NGC/ANACS...or even PCI (gasp!). image

I remember when GTG first joined and asked for coins to buy at reasonable prices. He wanted cheap ones for the coin shows.

I provided him an extensive list of coins for well under what he would pay for them elsewhere.

He told me I was asking too much for them. He was looking to spend under $5.00 for slabbed coins.

Then he had the nerve to tell me that some board member had the nerve to waste his time asking him for a list of coins to buy and then the guy did not buy anything!

Greg has some nerve! I was very nice to him at first, but seeing him for what he is---the crowd was right about him.

I should clarify something I posted.

Greg said my prices were too high and then I said it bothered me.

I did not get offended that he thought my prices were too high and then did not buy anything. Really, I could care less if he bought anything from me.

The only thing that really irked me was that he wanted a coin I had listed for $20.00 (which he could have sold for $30.00 and made $10.00 off it) for $5.00. Just thought he had losts of nerve.

I suggested to him that he open an eBay account, but he never replied and I don't think he has opened one yet. I think it would be the best with the type of matierial he has and wants to deal in.
  • FOR THE RECORD:

I was meerly hoping for one in this price range....

I caught a few topics saying my asking price was to low.... I concur. I was meerly saying that I was HOPING to get one for this price. I know this is below te graysheet.

I am actually looking for it for a customer of mine and am looking for the best price.... this guy is very picky. I am going to do my best to find him this coin.

It appears that I am going to have to up the ante on my price.

    Thanks,

    -Greg Ullstam

P.S. I am NOT going to respond to any of this off topic posts about coins people have tried to sell me and other off topic points. I was talking about buying a coin for one price..... if you don't have that coin then why even bother clicking on the thread. If you want to talk off topic then please move to the open thread where that kind of "talk" belongs. Please keep the comments pithy and keep them where they belong. thanks.

"I was talking about buying a coin for one price..... if you don't have that coin then why even bother clicking on the thread."

Maybe because you didn't list the price you were willing to pay in the title?

Once you had us hooked, we felt the need to comment.....

I guess we should have known a low-ball offer was to follow.

But I will take your suggestion, next time I see a WTB thread from you I'll just skip it.

Actually, since you are a dealer, you might be better off buying one raw as you probably know the diagnostics and should be able to avoid the counterfeits and problem coins. There might be an opportunity to pick one up for close to $400 and sell it for close to $600. Just a thought.

As a dealer you should know picky customers are not going to like key-date coins you hope to buy for less then greysheet. They are either problem coins or counterfeit.

We can discuss a dealers buy price. It gets discussed every day. If you get flamed for it maybe you should consider such lowball buy prices will NOT bring you more business, and won't look good to the customers who actually do buy from you. I know you won't care about this post or respond since it is OT in your eyes but you might want to think about it.
