My opinion keeps switching between "Cool", and "Splotchy". Any opinions??

It looks like it's going to be a brown splotchy coin.

I agree. Original, but splotchy. Toning isn't nice, but I don't think it hurts the value, either.

Probably right. My token bid was exceeded, and I decided to let it go. But then I keep thinking about this Heritage description:

"Sharply struck and deeply toned with vivid gold, lilac, and steel color, and with full underlying luster."

Sounds better than it looks. image

This is a fully struck, original coin. The numerous black flecks make the coin ugly. The other issue here is that the toning probably reduces the luster. The combination of these two items resulted in a major downgrade of the coin. This is a pity, because not only is the coin original and fully struck, but it doesn't appear to have any marks on its surfaces.

This coin in 3 is as common as dirt. The only problem you're going to have getting one of these in 3 is if the luster is okay, you'll be looking at lots of contact marks or other problems with the coin.

Some people like that original splottyness (I do) ... go with your gut Tommy ... that's a very nice 3

I would pass on that coin.

    <<<gold, lilac, and steel color>>>
It's just a mediocre, average, neutral appeal toned 25¢, probably looks better in hand than the pict does.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    Original, neutral/negative toning.
