those are difficult to grade in hand, much less by a pic!

obviously I have no clue but it looks pretty nice.
  • My guess is AU55 - 58

I also pead the fifth on this picture. It's better than my AU-50 of this date (the only $2.50 Indian I have with a complete date).

looks uncirculated.......64 due to that line on the obverse that extends from the I.

    just a wag.....sure i,m wrong though......fun to guess.
  • ITS BETTER THAN THE AU 58 PCGS 1912 I GOT FROM THE SAME GUY. I THINK I GOING TO GET IT TOO.

WELL, IF IT'S BETTER YOU MIGHT AS WELL GO AHEAD AND GET IT. THAT SOUNDS LIKE A VERY GOOD IDEA. GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND BE SURE AND LET US KNOW HOW IT IS.

  • WHY DOES HE YELL ALL IN CAPS AND SAY IT IS BETTER THEN A 64 WHEN HE ASKS FOR A GRADE? HE SHOULD JUST TELL US WHAT IT GRADES THEN, AND NOT WASTE OUR TIME.

HE DIDNT SAY......he didnt say it was `better than a 64`.....also, lighten up people.
its only a `guess the grade` thread or `whats your opinion of this coin` thread.
no need to get all up-tight.

  • You are right. We shouldn't be so harsh on people who can't comprehend that caps are yelling. Hasn't he been here long enough to know already? Doesn't he type in caps a lot?

  • yes , i mess up . sorry

    That picture is:
    •Too small
    •Harshly lit
    •and too small
to determine, even haphazardly, a grade for that coin.

Nontheless, I'd say with about 60% certainty that it is MS60 or better, but probably not MS64.
  • for a 2.5 dollar coin it really is very nice.
it has the look of an ms coin for sure.
may the force be with you.

LittleJohn: If it were me, before I purchased it, I'd ask the seller what those 2 hazy areas are on the reverse of the coin just under the eagles's beak and between the tail and the last "A" in America.

It's hard to tell from the photo whether that's luster reflecting or whether there are some hairlines from either circulation or possibly an abrasive cleaning.

The coin has AU details, but may need to be net-graded down a bit...

  • The coin has MS details. I would say it's MS61/62 or more likely "cleaned." Good luck!

Perhaps you could compromise and use the "Shift" key when appropriate?

I'm no gold expert, and have a tough time with the incuse designs. For what it is worth, I think it's an AU55 due to the appearance of wear around the rims--look on the reverse left either side of the P in PLURIBUS (hey look at that... the die engravers had CAPS LOCK TROUBLE TOO!).

I agree with those above... properly case makes posts easier to read.
