1853 Coronet 1/2 Cent Help

    I agree with Cam.
    I don't like the color of it, could be the lighting but it looks cleaned.

    Can't tell much from the pictures. It looks dipped but I want
    a better look to say for sure. Detail is nice. Might be a better AU.

    It's C-1, which is the only variety of '53 Half Cents.

    I'd question the color, too.

    Cleaned and poorly recolored. These are common in "nice" condition, so why bother?

    Cleaned, recolored and 1853 and 1851 are probably the common dates among the Braided Hair half cents.

    In general most dealers find this type hard to sell. I don't really understand why. They are really much more attractive than their large cent sisters.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
