OT. My son started his first job today. He's officially a coin dealer..........poor kid.

My son ask me for $5 to buy some football cards yesterday. I told him that he would have to earn it by doing work around the house. Being the thinker that he is, he suggested that he work at our coin company, Jade Rare Coin, instead. Today was his first day of work at his new job. We have several thousand wheat cents that need to be sorted by decade so that they can be rolled. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it! He's doing a great job so far. I told him to keep an eye out for any 14-D, 22 no D, 31-S or 09-S coins, but no luck so far. My concern at the moment is whether or not we are violating any child labor laws. Hmmmmmm. Maybe I should fire him to avoid breaking any laws.......

Actually, I told him to wear jeans and a sweat shirt. He insisted upon wearing a suit to work. Wish I had that kinda motivation and dedication.....

Yeah, my father tried to do that to me too when I was 8 years old. Except my mom wanted me to have a respectable job so she sent me off to be a piano player at the local whorehouse!!!!!

Update:

My son just walked in my office and said, "hey, I am sorting a lot of pennies for just 5 bucks. Are you sure that I have to sort all of these?". The kid is hustling me for a few more dollars. He MUST be a real coin dealer.

Way to go, my kids volunteer at my work 1 or 2 times a month and sometimes if they are lucky they get paid ten bucks........but they do love it.

We are going home now. I managed to do a few eBay listings and take care of some paper work. My son got through his first batch of wheaties and is tired now. He keeps trying to convince me that $5 is not enough for all of his hard work. Now we are off to the store so that he can buy his football cards.

.............and then I am off to Chicago tonight. We have a table at the Countryside show on Sunday.

Whatever you do don't let him see you at the Heritage website. If he finds out there's a big auction in baseball cards---you'll have created a monster! Of course if the coin bizz crashes, a card dealership might bail you out, but the "new" boss will only pay you $5/day!!!
