Are These Kennedy's Worth Submitting?

image Still trying to get a feel for different sellers and photo's they use to try and sell a coin. I picked up this 68-S for $9.99. I'm showing the sellers picture then mine. Are these worth submitting?

    The first 68-S maybe.

    The others no.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • I am also interested in the answer. Could you elaborate on what you like and don't like about the coins to teach a newb such as myself what is worth submitting. Thank-you.

  • From my POV -- the 1st coin has a shot at DCAM the others do not. The real value of these proofs is in the amount of cameo contrast.

The last 64 might go CAM but it is hard to tell from the pics posted.

Russ would be the expert in this arena.

From the photos I dont think the 68 has a shot at DCAM, CAM maybe but it depends on the reverse I cant tell from the photo. From your photos not the ebay sellers I would say 67 I say this due to the reverse. I cant see the cam. Other wise nice Kennedy have you checked it for a possible variety?

  • The '68-S looks to be the only one remotely worth sending in... you need to work on taking pictures that will show the contrast, as with the '64s, you really can't see anything...

I wouldnt spend the money to put them in a plastic suit

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

The 68 is a cam+. If it doesn't have hairlines and goes about 69CAM you may do OK. The others I wouldn't submit.

  • The 1964's no.

image The 64s won't grade out... they'll just be junk in slabs... the 68-S, for you to even break even, you'd need a 68DCAM from PCGS... 68UCAM from NGC will sell for less than the slabbed fees... a 69DCAM or a 69UCAM is the only way you'll profit on most of the Post-SMS Proof Coins... just look at Marty... he sends in hundreds of coins on Bulk Submission... and most of those coins get wholesaled out, and only sell on EBay for $5-$10 if you're lucky...

George is correct, unless you can hit a high grade DCAM your pissing your cash away. Things to look for that will screw up the grade are haze, spots, hits and most of all HAIRLINES! If your slabbing it for yourself or you are building a grading set, go for it. The same holds true with the Kennedys. But if you think you can turn them for some quick cash, NOT!!!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Correct! And, it's getting to the point with the pops on some coins where even a 69 DCAM/UCAM is even a wash!

    Lee,

I see nothing in the group worth submitting.

Sorry, but you probably overpaid. I know which seller you got it from. It will not be nearly as strong in hand, and may very well be hairlined to death.

image Thanks Guys for the help!!! I'll be taking a closer look at these over the weekend. I'm still looking for a Nikon coolpix 4500 but prices haven't been right yet. Thanks Again, Lee
  • Lee,

I see that you're from Odenton, MD. You should come up to Mike Dixon's next show in Frederick in late January and meet us folks from the forum!
