I think $500 gold by the end of the year is very realistic, given a few bumps along the way. The dollar is weak and that won't change anytime soon. US$100 bills used to be universal currency around the world; that has probably changed for the short term.

Dollar is going into the toilet. And with a government out of control with spending and stealing, it's not going to get better anytime soon.

2005 is going to be a great year for gold and coins.

Gold can move down as the dollar moves down. All it takes is for the COT and ESF to release a flurry of paper sell orders. This has been a favorite trick of the COT. They don't have to cover it with physical gold either. It tends to scare off the really weak hands and can drop the price up to $5-12 very quickly. However, the trick has not been working so well as of late as there are usually plenty of buyers ready to snap up the gold at the new depressed price.
