1840 Seated Half, Small Letters, ANACS XF-45:
I really like this design in the half-dollar size....I'm almost done with the type, and I'll miss them!

<< <i>That is SOOO cool! I like the small letters. I need one of those, even if it is NOT part of the complete type set. Do you have the no drapery one too?
Tom >>
That's the only one I have left! (After I get my 1854-O, w/arrows, in the mail from Heritage).
1839 no drapery is a toughie to find. I almost picked up a VF-35 awhile back, but couldn't mentally justify the $600 or so the dealer was asking. It was probably worth it....but I'm cheap.
BTW: I define my types very broadly...not the simple "with motto, without motto" pair.
1839 (without drapery)
1839-53 (with drapery, no motto)
1853 (arrows and rays)
1854-55 (arrows only)
1856-65 (return to non-arrows)
1866-73 (with motto)
1873-74 (with arrows)
1875-91 (return to without arrows)
Since I'm equally generous in my definition of "type" for other series, you can see that my type set it a pretty long term goal!!

<< <i>Very nice coin! I love the darker silver color - never messed with!

Agree! Which is exactly why I'll probably end up replacing my 1853 arrows and rays.....it's too d*** white.
