A new coin, to me at least, a 1920 SLQ

OK, it's cleaned. I still couldn't pass. The cleaning is really not that bad, in my opinion, and I just couldn't resist a coin with a strike as nice as this. And, it was pretty cheap. Just thought I'd share.

<< <i>looks XF are you sure it's not just normal circulation wear >>
Look at the detail on the chain mail on the breast, and how rounded the knee is. This coin isn't XF. It's pretty close to UNC. An XF coin's shield will be worn down with almost no detail on the escutcheon, or inner shield. I'm pretty sure it's cleaned.

Yep.
perfect situation where a coin doctor's services might well be in order. i like that coin a lot.

Too bad somebody stripped her luster, but still not a bad looker ... and that's definately AU55+ detail.

A very nice SLQ albeit cleaned--not that you asked, but take a piece of paper grocery bag, wet it and lay the coin on top of it--put it on top of a shelf in your bath room where it will get steam and moisture--wet the paper and turn the coin periodiically for six months or so and it will grey over the cleaning. The combination of sulphur and moisture work wonders. I've got a cleaned 1895-O Morgan that I'm treating the same way and it has come back nicely. Hairlines almost gone under a natural looking grey. It's ready to submit in another few months. I cracked it out of a PCGS slab years back when I wanted an all raw set (MISTAKE!) --EF40--and ANACS later sent it back as cleaned--so I decided to re-age it. No chemicals--just an accelerated environment and patience. All that said, your SLQ looks fine now if you're happy with it--one of my favorite coin series.
Mike - Come on! It's really close to a full head, you have to agree, don't you?
BillBoat - You don't race open wheel cars, do you? Who gets that? Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I don't really like cleaned coins, I'm not going to try to doctor it myself, but I did like what DK said about a coin doc being able to improve it. No doubt someone abused this coin in the past, I'd just like to get her back to an original look, and since I rarely sell my coins, she'll be with me for a long long time.
You know that I normally would have called this a full head, but with my recent lessons learned by our instructors at PCGS, its not; its very very close though. The hair line at her temple is a tad soft. Regardless of what I or anyone else says about this coin, its a super strike and a nice addition to your collection.

Very nice SLQ. I would put it it an an old Dansco and let nature take it`s course.
