Currently in an ANACS MS-65 holder. Would it cross to PCGS??
My guess: The strike might prevent it, but I don't have much experience at this grade level.
Thanks,
Tom

As for luster, it really is close to being PL. Nice mirrors instead of cartwheel luster. I took the pic at a slight angle because the mirrors were screwing up my limited photographic capabilities. Maybe I'll give it another shot after work today.
I bought it raw as an MS-64, and sent it to ANACS hoping for 65PL. I didn't get the PL, but once I "made" it at 65, I started to second guess that ANACS was just too loose.
Thanks for the opinions guys.

Now the strike looks great, and the marks look worse. More proof that photos never tell the whole story!
And I think you see why it didn't get the PL....Mirrors are nice, but late in it's life. Some of what I've heard called "starburst".

<< <i>yes, 65, but .................. not sure why you'd want to spend the money on this coin for postage 2 ways and a grading fee on top of that.............. you probably can't recoup the cost on this coin given the value of a 79-s in 65 >>
Oh, I agree. I really have no intention of sending it to PCGS for crossover. Just that it's the only MS-65 Morgan I own, and I wanted to get some idea from the forum faithful whether it was a "good" 65 by PCGS standards, or an example of ANACS maybe being too lenient.
I'm into the coin for $45 purchase price (as an MS-64 several years agao), plus $12 ANACS grading fee, plus shipping. I'm happy to sit on it now, and place it in my type set.
Now...If it were a lock 66, that might be a different story!! Don't think it is, though. Enough nicks and ticks to keep it from soaring into la-la grades.
