  • I just purchased 5 of these lots. I always use these coins as Xmas presents for my nephews. I will post the pics of the lots I receive so you can all judge the winnings. Let's hope that my nephews have a grand Xmas.

  • You got ripped off. I would rather get free flips then the stuff he sells

Now I really want to know what's in these lots- they better start showing up so people can start taking some pics!! image

  • Has anyone noticed that when he is asked to produce real evidence of the so called "Coin shop" that his relative had.....he hasn't responded to any of my postings. Other than to act ignorant and evasive, what proof can he show the group?? a bunch of coins??? Like none of us here have any......

Give it a rest Sam........PUT UP OR GO AWAY!!!!

  • Thank you silverpop. Hopefully those who are getting the "free picks" from his group aren't getting the picked selections but are getting the same overall deal that the auction has listed.

  • My question to you is , What are the statistical odds that with only 15% of the lot being wheat pennies from his first go around, that in 20 pulls from the "box" 18 would be wheat cents with 2 being "other coins" from the remaining 85%??

If we have any mathmatical genius' out there im betting the chance of it being randomed that way is greater then the number of people on the planet.

Anyone able to figure the odds? Maybe the collectors getting 18/20 wheat cents or 16/18 or even 6/8 just happen to have bad luck or maybe they do have a reason to gripe. The numbers dont lie.

I can teel you that Tom Avery is a real dealer that used to own Century Coins in Birmingham, Alabama. It was an awesome coin shop. Mr. Avery still sets up at the Bessemer show and the Pelham Show in Alabama. He was very successful and retired mainly so he could do some traveling around the world. He is one coin dealer that I highly admire.image

The statistical chance of drawing 18 or more "wheats" in 20 pulls in a mixture of 15% "wheats" is approx. 0.00000000000020667948

In layman's terms: Not too good. image

BTW Cameron, which of the O. twins is the one that went to treatment- the one on the right of your picture, or the one on the left? It's the one on the right, right?

  • I keep coming back to this thread hoping that someone would have received their lot. I'm really looking forward to seeing the pictures. Actually, anyone here who is getting one will probably get at least one good coin so he can prove his point. This is a great way for you guys to possibly get some good coins for very little money. Good luck!

  • His auction has been removed!

    Auction is gone!
  • Yep the auction is gone and so are a whole lot of other random drawings. I wrote a lengthy letter to safe harbor and they agree that numerous auctions are about to be whacked. fair is fair right. Well even tho the auction is gone, everyone who paid has been shipped, so won't be able to get any official feedback except here since its gone, but if you look i managed to squeeze in 2 or 3 positives from the auction before it got whacked. I actually turned myself in to ebay, i wrote asking if my auction was OK. and they told me i should end it but i didn't read their response in time till they did it in. Oh well, my technique will just have to change I guess. And a big nose up to all those calling me a scammer. I have had numerous sympathethic emails saying they bid in my auction just because they enjoy the mystery, as it is fun and entertaining, or adds joy to their otherwise drab existance. Forgive me for being a fun dealer?
  • Thanks for all the fun Sam! Seriously, you might have a lot more fun living in Vegas where your talents are appreciated and legal to boot.image

Your technique? You mean your method to sell $.02 cent coins for $2.00?

Very simple answer - because he is a racketeer.

For my $15 plus postage, I received:
1907 D Barber half Borderline Good
1935 S Walking Liberty Half: Good
    1925 SL Quarter: Good
    1904 Indian Cent: Very Good
    1935 Lincoln: Good (Corroded)
Shipped regular mail in a business envelope without any packaging material.
    .
I don't have time to figure bid/ask, but he got me and I'm sure he sent me better stuff than most people receive. Sam, you need to go legit and sell coins one by one, not pig in the poke.

When he ran these auctions a few months ago, I talked to several people who received nothing but 40-50s wheats, circulated Jeffersons, and a token silver dime here and there. I'm sure he thought he was giving you $15 "retail", but still looks like you got about half the value of what you paid. What did he charge for shipping?
  • Morgannut,

Thats not legal in Vegas !

Im sorry but honestly how do you feel like that was a ripoff? Do you really think that a retail coin shop would not sell those coins for $15? I'm not trying to start a quarrel, I'm just asking honestly do you not think those coins would get at least $15 in a store?

I could get those out of my local dealer's bargain bin for 25 cents each.

Well, isn't this a bit ironic?

You ask for proof on this, yet you cannot/will not provide a dealer name/address/ or phone for your supposed "Retired" dealer

Sam, quit digging your self deaper man and just exit

Sam, I think you are forgetting your audience.

Members of this board would in no way pay $15 + postage for those coins. Really stretching it maybe I would give you $9. + NO postage but that is really stretching it.

The kind of items you are selling and the way you are (were) selling them would only appeal to the most novice of novices (which you will not find very many if any that post to this message board). which is also why you are receiving a lot of grief.
