MarKet Acceptable Toning? It's on its way to ANACS. . .

Now, in the same submission of Morgans I'm sending to ANACS, I'm including this wild Franklin. I've had it ready to go for awhile, but have been afraid the color might scare the Graders off. It's pretty wild. The lack of marks and the strike, coupled with the luster would place this one near the MS67 consensus. I think it's either a BIG coin or it'll come back AT per ANACS and then instantly become a little coin.
Just for fun- what is your percentage guess it'll holder out as real color? Instead of "it's AT", or "it's NT", give me the percentage of a chance it'll work with ANACS.
(I'll keep this Thread and post the results upon the Franklin's return...)

With that said, the coin could be NT, but I wouldn't think so.

FWIW: I only give it a 20% shot at holdering myself. . .

very interesting comment!!!! what is it about 1963 Franklins which prohibits them from toning in a certain way which might be consistent with any other year's color or pattern??
now, understand that i assume you are alluding to chemicals which may be in the holders of Mint Sets or roll paper from earlier years, but considering that this coin is over 40 years and could have been who knows where in who knows what during any period of time in those intervening years, why would you make that assumptive leap of opinion?? with all that said, i have enough coins in PCGS/NGC/ANACS holders with colors similar in appearance that i'd have to believe the coin has at least a 50/50 chance of being viewed as legitimate.

The Franklin to which you linked (that NGC holdered) has the infamous "toilet toning," which for some reason, the TPGs often find to be market acceptable. Actually, I think the reverse on this coin is original, as I've seen a number of SLQs which have toned like that. However, with no disrespect intended, the obverse of the Franklin which started the thread looked like someone puked in it 40 years ago, and then they left it in a heremetically sealed environment and then forgot about it. The reverse sort of looks like bologna that is about a year past the "sell by" date. Sorry.

On the other hand, I figure 50/50 chance that it will or will not be net graded for Artifical Toning

Should be a no brainer for the experts at ANACS.

Your coin will not get in a ligit holder without a net grade.

PS- I've heard from a few graders that the toning (even dark) on Franklins is the reason some get the high grades--the marks are covered. If you dip this coin, I doubt it would stay a 67, even if all the lustre remained.

The only market that would be acceptable in is Kroger's Supermarket.
