Coin giveaway (sort of) WINNER IN 1ST POST

That would be me.
1972 was the first year that 18 year olds could vote. You had to turn 18 before election day, November 2nd. The youngest voters that year were born on November first; my 18th birthday. For anyone with a calculator, that means I turn 50 on Monday, November 1, 2004.
Now that the pity thread has started, here's the deal. I will randomly pick a name that responds to this thread. The winner will pick a year of their choice. I will go to the Philadelphia Mint archives and research everything I can find out about that year: coin production, dies, correspondence, silver & gold purchases. Some of the stuff gets pretty interesting using 1964 as an example. Any year between 1792 and 1971 is in play. I will copy all of the material and send it to you. You will be the first one to see records that most people can't even access. What you do with it is up to you.
Don't delay; at my age I might forget even writing this thread. Winner will be drawn towards the end of the week.

After putting everyone's name on a piece of paper and putting the slips in a semi-clean coffee cup and asking a secretary here to pull one out, the winner is:
### dthigpen ###
Winner gets to select 1 year between 1792 and 1971 and I will search everything that the Phila. Mint has in its archives. You can PM me or post here, whatever you want.
Looks like I'll be having a sick day sometime in the next week or two.

My omnicoin collection (or how my coin photography has progressed)
I registered with the National Archives and Records Administation (NARA) back in March of this year and I am listed on their website, archives.gov as a numismatic research specialist for the Philadelphia region(translated: I am willing to dig through tons of records on my own time).
I did work for the Franklin Mint, 1982-1983, but that doesn't count.
Joe
Remember, free research, any year, and employees of PCGS are more than welcome to enter.
Have a Great Day!

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.

That would be cool. Picking the year would require some thought

Happy Birthday Joe, and thanks for this generous offer. I've done NARA work at College Park, but despite growing up in suburban Philly (Chester County), I haven't dug in up there yet. Craig Sholley has shared some of his work with me.
For those who visit RG 104 (Mint records) at the National Archives in College Park, MD, keep an eye peeled for some pencil notes in the margins of letters of Mint officials -- a young Walter Breen felt perfectly ok jotting down remarks on the original documents in his unique handwriting!

Not a bad choice if I say so myself. I'll get to work right away.
