FB rating >99.0% and preferably closer to 99.8-100%

And of course, being a member for at least ONE year. I get very antsy at sellers who are only a month or two old. Better if you get a seller with several years experience and a great FB rating. If you don't, dig deeper.

First gen holders than are not hyped. Hyped or not, these are often some of the best buys. You just have to weed out the ones that are hyped or over-reserved.

Nothing against dealers, but I prefer to buy from sellers with years of longevity but who come up with stuff every once in a while.

Fresh material. And you can sort of tell if the stuff is retreaded or really new to the market.

I would have added good, clear pictures................but most of my 'rips' have come from knowing what to look for in a lousy pic

The single most important item is a seller with a very high feedback number and NO negatives or neutrals. This tells you more about the seller than any other single item.

An add like ChuckyC's would be very appealing to me. Sorry Chuck don't do the dimes.
Oh and buy the way it has allmost all the things the rest of you mentioned except the large amount of +feedback.
  • hey, thanks lindedad...I'm starting off small. Someone mentioned adding a line about tracking confirmation (which I always use for shipments). I'll probably do that in the future.

-Good photos that give true understanding of wwhat the coin looks like- often this needs to be coupled with a succinct, clear wriiten description

    - A succinct, clear written description w/o inappropriate hype

-Use of phrases like "PCGS" only if it is actually graded by PCGS

-S/H handling fees that are clearly listed, and relect the actaul costs; combined shipping for multiple purchases.

    Large, crisp, clear coin images.

I also agree that a large, clear picture is one of the most important factors in a good ebay listing.

We have just recently added a super sized image enlargement that we believe would help buyers see the coin better. Browsers and buyers alike, we believe, will appreciate this new feature.

I think you hit the nail squarly. And I noticed that russ and marty like those kind of auctions as well.

    •Large, clear images
    •Feedback no less than 99.8% preferably 99.9 or 100%.
    •A stated return policy.

    Less import, but also positives:
    •Reasonable shipping fees.
•Comments in feedback profile about quality of coins previously sold.
    •Less sizzle, more steak.

Short, to the point descriptions. Let the coin (via large pictures) sell itself. (I hate wordy hype auctions!)
