Umm...definitely not whizzed. That's the halogen lights and huge image sized down that bring out the flow lines.

  • I don't know it looks really nice but seems a bit weak,
    maybe MS64.

At first glance, I was gonna say "whizzed". But, photos can be deceiving. I think the coin has some wear on the reverse tho'image

  • Looks like a strong MS-65 that just comes up short of a MS-66.

    I like it as an MS64.3 +/- 0.5

97% chance of having been dipped, and >50% chance of having been dipped more than once.

(but that's ok, teriffic luster in the fields!)

Hard to tell for sure from the pics. If fully lustrous then I would give it a 64. The sideburns of GW and the breast feathers of the eagle look a bit weak for a 65.

It is hard to get a feel for the luster since the light seems to be diffused over the coin surface. I can surmise that it has nice luster but with only 70% certainty.

The other 30% possibility is that the coin has been dipped very extensively in the past.

First of all, it is a Heavy Motto. Secondly, some of the prettiest coins grade AU 58. Impossible to say under these circumstances.
  • I'd say 64/65, I would realy like to see the hair curls better, from the photo it looks nice but a little weak, may be too weak to go full GEM. I have heard others say that the grade is "the number of curls you can count", althought not a hard rule it is good to use as a benchmark to start from. Nice coin, I think MS64 early washintons are great bargains.

Decades ago, I used to know how to grade this series. Is the 1934 P weakly struck, like the 1932 P? If not, you have a nice AU coin, based on the image. The breast feathers are incomplete on the reverse. On the obverse, the sideburns (hair in front of the ear) lack detail.

OTOH, if these coins are weakly struck, like middle date S Mint Buffs, all bets are off.

65....I am not going to let the large image fool me into saying MS64.image
  • Looks Frosty! image I'd say MS66, but that's just a WAG... image

Marks in the left obverse field keep it out of the MS65 catagory. I think I detect a slight rub on the obverse- this could knock the grade down a bit farther. mike

I'd say it has the look of a 65, but weakness in the reverse may hold it back to 64.

I'll stick my neck out and grade it MS66image

BTW, nice coin; I like it a lot.

I bet that coins looks even nicer in person. the lighting is fairly diffuse which flattens out the contrast a little. I'll go 65.

I can't grade your quarter since I haven't seen it but I will grade your scan. There is a tick near the mouth and one on the bust and bit of chatter in the right obverse field. I will bet that the marks when seen in hand rather than all enlarged are hardly noticable. I also think the strike is better than appears--I am guessing that the reflection is washing out high point details especially on the eagle's breast.

The weakness others have mentioned seems over blown.

    Grade: 66
