Very nice! In a world of dipped coins, it's nice to see real originality image

Very nice set, but my browser must not be working well. It didn't bring up a picture of a 1916. You've got one, right? image

    Like 'em!

Quick question: I have a 1917 in an ANACS holder with VERY similar "toning" to the one picured here...splotchy black. (Granted, mine is AU. image

Is that type of toning fairly common? I don't recall seeing it much on other coins. I rather assumed it might have been considered residual from improper dipping, or some such "bad" thing.

Thanks for all the comments ... and the kudo's

Jeremy ... yeah, I'm hoping they'll always be that way ... I'd take an original anyday ...

mgoodm ... thanks, that's a catalog cover for an important paper money auction, circa 1993

    tmot ... nope, no 16

Lord ... that 19s is one of my fav's image

Tommy ... mine's AU also (PCGS 58FH) ... and that deep green/blue/black came up after years (about 12) in a whitman album. Some got it and some didn't. I think that coin had just a hint of golden/green rims when it went in the album ... but so long ago, no digital pictures from back then and my notes are fuzzy. I never dipped it, and I think it was totally original when I bought it ... and I've seen others with similar toning ... but ??? I submitted it a few years ago.

Thanks again image ... glad you've enjoyed

    Todd,

Thanks for the pics. The SLQ is my favorite type coin of the 20th Century. Question - the 20P appears to be FH & fully struck, but it appears to have some rub on Miss Liberty's right knee. Never seen one like this. What did it grade?

    Todd,

Congrats on your recent additions; very nice coins pictured. The SLQ is without a doubt my favorite coin !

My SLQ set is still a work in progress and when its completed to my satisfaction, I'll open it up for viewing and have photos attached as well. Until then, the set sits in the dark (and also in the safe deposit box).image

Wow, thanks again for all the nice kudo's image

This set has been in work for a long time (I bough the first two coins at the Seattle ANA (1990)) ... and with this advanced age in technology, it really is nice to be able to share them. It's also nice to be able to see them up close and personal without having to go to the safe deposit box all the time.

Elcont ... the 20 is a 58, and was graded as such ... not quite enough for a FH, and it didn't get it on the holder either which was fine with me

Mike ... not really newp's ... the 26s I upgraded to this year, and the 19s I picked up from JimD on ebay a couple years back. I do have one coming in this week as a small b-day present to me (I'll be 40 on Friday)

Anyway, thanks again ... it's nice to see the appreciation for this set
