My Granddaughter likes toned coins... Please help!!!

stmanstman Posts: 11,352 ✭✭✭✭✭
I know there are some good hearted people on this board so I am asking for help for my 13 year old Granddaughter.
The thing is, she wants some more coins and might have misplaced a few. Grandpa (me) won't buy her any more because even at her young age I try to teach her that one needs to do this thing called "WORK" if she wants something.

Now just because I'm an old grump and try and teach her ethics... I thought if I pleaded the YN thing some of you good folks would give her freebies so she learns nothing about life. She has some money but really doesn't want to spend it.

BTW, she needs flips too. image

Thanks in advance!!!!!

She has been reading and has learned that all she needs to do is sit at a keyboard and come up with a good "Story" and some nice folks will send her free coins.

Regards, Mr. sarcasm.

There is a lesson to be learned here. Before anyone flames stman, think about it.

PM me with address...I have a target toned nickel in a NTC holder that I have been saving for the first YN that would appreciated it. image
  • You might try some Darkside coins for affordable toners. Canadian silver dollars from 1971 to 1973 have toning and are affordable - or used to be. Old French sowers are nice affordable coins that come with a lot of toning sometimes. The list goes on.

Very touching ! Please PM your address so every coin that is owned may be sent to her. Also the wallet will be cleaned out and the money will be sent. This will set her on the path for life with the expectation of getting everything for nothing.

She is not going to learn any lessons if coins are just given to her and she has the money- I suspect this thread was meant to be a parody of another threadimage. mike

Hey, anything for a YN with a good story, right?

Silly me. When I was little I didn't have any stories. I just spent my allowance buying things like 1912-D Lincolns in Good for a buck and a half.
  • Only if we can give her a nickname. I was thinking, " SUZYtheGREAT "

  • The flip request took my heart and ripped it open. I'll mail her as many as I have and will even throw in some free staples.

If she does receive any slabbed coins from these generous members, be sure to check the edges of the slabs very carefully for signs of tampering.

And if she needs some good lessons in life, I hear there is a good military school down in the southwest! image
  • You forgot to mention her desire to become a coin dealer.

And when my allowance was not enough, I mowed 7 lawns to save up $15 to buy a "Mixed CC" Morgan from the GSA!! If only I had a message board then, I could have begged for a whole set of GSA dollars and spent my summer at the beach!!!

Sounds very high maintenance. I used to date women like that until I got smart. I can send her the ugliest Morgan I've ever seen. Got it from Tom Killian a few years back when we did an ugliest coin we have exchange. Don't think he'd be offended. It actually is an Unc. coin, but has something like gun grease that was caked onto the obverse decades ago. I don't think I need to report it to the Center For Disease Control, as I believe whatever it is, it isn't biologically active.

No... I think I'll start her 'small.' How about a whizzed slider war nickel I picked up at a bid board in 1963? I'd send it postage due, of course.

I offered a 1879-cc GSA with beautiful rainbow toning....but he said that was not enough...so I pulled out the big GUN!!!! image
  • Unfortunately I don't have any toned coins to offer. I would however, like to mention that my grandson LOVES gold! Please PM me for address - so that all of you wonderful folks can send all of your gold coins to him. He is picky though, so please make sure that each piece must be at least 1 oz in size - and preferably older coins.
