That one's even flatter than my spirits after yet another October, extra inning %^&$#%^&%^&#$ Yankees comeback win.

I'm not sure I've ever seen such a crappy strike. It almost looks like you can see adjustment marks on the flat area above (and ON) the ear. NTC. Gotta love it.

  • Looks to me like it was hit in the center. Flat front and back.
  • Man, a coin grading service with a TERRIBLE name....the creator and owners should be shot. MISTRUST is part of their name! dumb! I bet this has been talked about before...im gonna look for some posts on it now...but wow...idiots!
  • I saw an 04-O that had a strike like that. Fugly!!! Most AUs look better than that. Quality Control was not the mantra of the New Orleans mint!!

The WORST struck coin (other than the typically poor struck 1922 no D cent) I have ever seen was the 1940-S Liberty walking half dollar. No detail on the obverse, not much on the reverse yet the luster was awesome!!!!!!!!

I remember it from the 1970's. I thought it was gorgeous. I should have bought it then. All of $8.00 then.

I just saw another one in Pittsburgh ANA but it was not quite that bad. PCGS MS-62 but also awesome!

Boy, that is one ugly coin. She's so ugly she reminds me of my ex-wife's chest (after she had implants).
I of course looked at his other coins for sale. What do you think of this Seated Liberty Half? I know very
little about this series, but the coins looks nice, it's slabbed, and the mintage is low. Of course the minimum
is greysheet ask for the grade. Thanks.

I would say the flat strikes of the 1922 -26 Lincolns and the repeat performance of the 1964-68 Lincolns.

Man...that is one poorly struck BU coin.

I have a 1954-S nickel that is so poorly struck that it would blow your mind.image

How about a photo, that I'd love to see too?

I never thought about the flat strike before, very interesting. I always manage to learn something new, even when I am not trying.

The odd part is 1884-O as an issue is one of the BETTER struck New Orleans mint Morgan Dollars.

And yea, I've seen 1904-O Morgan Dollars that were worse.

Leave it to NTC to find the worst struck 1884-O dollar on the planet. They are bottom feaders.

Yea I saw a '54-S nickel in a mint set once that was the worst struck Jefferson that I had ever seen. It had fully lustrous surfaces with attractive toning, and no more than outline detail on most of the reverse. Full Steps? This thing didn't even have a sliding board!

  • I've got a 92-O (NGC 63) that's almost as bad.

You'd expect that from a '92-O; it's arguably the worst-struck date in the Morgan series. But an '84-O? Yeesh!

NTC found it or the coin found its way to NTC by the submittor?

MS-61 I can believe. The coin has nice enough luster and surfaces that it deserves better than MS-60, but that strike would probably limit it to 61 in any case.

Wow, that's worse than the 1921 Morgans...
