newbie first thread, varieties, the troglohadeen

I got interested in coins again for the first time since I was a kid filling Whitman books when the first Cherrypicker's came out. Started looking for rpm's and double dies in circ wheats, actually found some, then bought unc rolls and found more, tried Teletrade, joined CONECA, began ebaying a couple years ago, which led me to this site when I saw the troglodyte reference. She did me a big favor, you are knowledgable and funny folks, and I held back from asking her a sarcastic question about her 1969s 1c ddo-1 since it was obviously already being done. That one is back, now it just APPEARS to be doubled, and she has dropped the troglodyte reference. She must still be watching the site.

Anyway, is this a good site for variety discussion as well as what I have seen as the main topics on new mint designs, high end coins, gold, Morgans? Related to an earlier thread on sniping, I would expect prices to go higher on varieties with time, as there are fewer of them vs more sought after coins, but also realize it is supply and demand, and there must be less demand since prices stay relatively low even for varieties with very low populations as reported in cherrypickers or CONECA variety listings.
