I've taken an interest in the Oregon Commemoratives for a few reasons. I live in Vancouver Washington. My daughter is currently learning about Lewis and Clark and the Oregon Trail. One of the persons that I purchased a coin from knew quite a bit of history about Ezra Meeker and the Oregon Trail Memorial Association. With the Lewis and Clark bicentenial upon us, everything just seems to be fitting in. The Oregon coins are very beautiful. Have a good day!

every treasure on Earth
to be young at heart?
And as rich as you are,
it's much better by far,
to be young at heart!
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Very nice!

"It don't make cents""
That was quite a dinner! Thank you everyone for showing your stuff off. I love this place....
<< <i>My Goal is to collect works by Laura Gardin and James Earl Fraser. I'm starting with the Oregon Commems. There is quite a bit to be collected. As recently as 1999, Laura G. Fraser's design was used on the Washington Commem gold piece. James E. Fraser did the Buffalo Nickel. >>
Cool idea. Laura was the first female designer of a US Coin, 1921 Alabama Centennial.
BTW, I like your avatar. It was the first one I uploaded on the forum. Here is a nicer image of the same coin. I'm honored you chose it.
Thanks for the Avatar. Man, I need my sun glasses to look at your '37-D for any longer than a few seconds. I'm risking some retina damage here.
I guess Laura's gender cost her the the Washington Quarter design in '32. As I understand it, our Washington quarter would have looked much different had she been a HE.
