Nope, I'm not seething about anything. I'm just calmly stating an opinion that you disagree with.
<< <i>My BS ometer is going off the charts.....so in other words, if you had the money, you wouldn't collect GEM mint state Bust dollars and proof 65 AND BETTER early gold or some other series IN 65 AND BETTER? You would just stick with circulated Barber Halves? YEAH RIGHT...WE ALL BELIEVE YOU! >>
Personally, I don't care whether you believe me or not. The people on this message board who know me personally know what I'm about and what kind of character I have. You may call me a liar about this, but you'd be wrong. In all honesty, there are very few series that interest me in this hobby. Gold really does nothing for me. Bust dollars don't interest me either. I stick with what interests me: Barber material and Buffalo nickels. I have mild interest in Walkers, SLQs, and Seated material as well.
If I had more money would I collect better-graded specimens of the coins I like? It depends. I tend to like challenges that require careful planning and patience. I guess that's why I not overly impressed with MS Barber Halves. The material is out there and available on the internet in steady quantities.
That's not to say that the really high-grade eye candy isn't nice to look at. Like I said, I don't like the other ancillary stuff that often goes along with the pictures of it. By the way, nice 1902 Quarter! She's a beaut!
"should ANACONDA (also known as 'dances with ego') be able to post images of any coin he wants to"? - POLL for fun
Am I missing something? Why wouldn't he be able to?
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
We can't turn this into an ebay preview site. We all know that ANACONDA is a dealer and most likely if he shows it , then its for sale. But so what ALL of my coins are for sale if the price is right.
Show what you want, just don't "PITCH" it with a price
BTW, we already have a forum for all the selling and us coins stuff. It's called the PCGS set registry forum. I think it's very reasonable to ask that this forum not become a second or third marketplace. I think it would have the effect of driving people over to sleepy hollow.
<< <i>Maybe theres some underlying jealousy floating around here. >>
An easy thing to say. There is no jealousy from me in any case. There are two forums here already dedicated to selling stuff. I do not believe this should be the third.
" Maybe theres some underlying jealousy floating around here."
No WAY!
(Hey, how many times have I given advice on how to take images....I alwasy share my secrets and let anyone use my images for free for any legitimate purpose.)
I could be wrong but I don't think that I have EVER stated that a particular coin was for sale.
I think the reasons makes sense to me.
This place could become another BST site. Hasn't in 4 years but it could. It's the old "break in the dam" argument.
The other reason is that .....see those banner ads.....$2000 a month per forum. And they have to share them. Would you want to pay $2000 a month and have ANY competition, perceived or otherwise.
I would not. Heck, I'd want me kicked off the board. Not that I sell that many coins to people on this board (and believe me, if you only knew), but it just the irritation.....
It seems enough people think that by posting pictures on this forum, Adrian is actively "selling". Let's be realistic; altruism rarely is what it seems to be, and it creates an effect even without motive or intent. If those of you who voted no would also want Mark Feld to stop posting educational posts here because by doing so he's proving his acumen in the area of numismatics and that helps him to build his client base, then I would see no hypocrisy taking place.
RELLA
Do not fall into the error of the artisan who boasts of twenty years experience in his craft while in fact he has had only one year of experience... twenty times.
I like Mark and have bitten my tongue. He is like me - we both love coins but if people are going to accuse me of being here to make money then they should also question any one else's motives.
And besides, do I really post like a guy who wants to kiss butt and make pretty so as to sell coins?
pix posted should fall within the forum rules. anything else should be deleted or moved to the proper forum.
i wanna see pix of all sorts of coins: proof, circulated, abused. i love proofs but circulated and abused coins have personality. the thing i hate seeing is someone either posting about a really beautiful coin and "asking" about how it should be graded or grumbling about how it was graded at ms69 when s/he thought it would surely go for a 70.
i'm confused...are adrian and anaconda the same person?
How can anyone in their right Mind accuse the Snake of trying to sell his coins here [or anywhere else for that matter, I mean after all... have you seen his prices ?
Les
The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.
" How can anyone in their right Mind accuse the Snake of trying to sell his coins here [or anywhere else for that matter, I mean after all... have you seen his prices ?"
Good post Cratylus. A few series are like that. Either they are sparkling examples, or pieces of crud, without much in between. The only challenge is not in the hunt, but in scraping together the money to make the buys. Isn't the sport part of what this hobby is all about?? If you can go to a major show with a suitcase full of cash and have a full set of whatever including errors and varieties within a couple of hours, where's the excitement?
This is too coincidental. I was just having this conversation with another board member @ the Long Beach show about Adrian. While I'm not in favor of him hawking his coins on the US Coin Forum, I see no real harm in it. He has beautiful coins. The problem I see is his apparent ego. Post a pic and leave the thread alone. Adrian posts to his own threads more than anyone I have ever seen in the past two years of being a member of this forum. He loves his coins but I think he loves seeing his threads get up there in post counts more and remaining on the first page for as long as possible.
As for the pics of the half naked woman, while I am as red blooded as the next guy, those need to stop. While it might be in good fun and everyone might enjoying seeing half naked pictures of his assistant, it's in bad taste, in my opinion. It might even be considered rude by some of the female members of this Board. There are also kids that visit this Board, trust me I know there are, I sent a bunch of them coins for the YN giveaway. That subject matter isn't appropriate for this site.
Needless to say, I think he should continue to post his pics, but it should be done with some modicum of decorum.
As for the comparison between himself and Mark Feld -- He is like me
I know Mark Feld well, and he's nothing like you from what I've seen you post on this forum. While you might think Mark posts to this forum in order to create "customers" nothing could be further from the truth. From my dealings with Mark he is one of the most honest people that I have ever come across. His level of integrity is second to no one.
This whole thread misses the point. It's not all about Adrian- it's about every forum member here. If it's deemed acceptable for one member it should be made acceptable to all. All Adrian and others have to do is remove their link to the coin for sale- what's so big about this? Why do you think I have a link about Soda Pop in my sig line right now? When the coin in question sells my coins for sale link will return. Pretty simple stuff. mike
No. Just 'cause I'm also from Dallas just down the street from him doesn't mean I'm him. Edited to add: Just fyi: it's RBinTex NOT RbinTex. i didn't know that a person can have multiple accts.
I seriously doubt he does but if you really wanted to have them you could.
<< <i>While you might think Mark posts to this forum in order to create "customers" nothing could be further from the truth. From my dealings with Mark he is one of the most honest people that I have ever come across. His level of integrity is second to no one. >>
I don't get the correlation. Even if he did post to promote himself that would not make him dishonest or be a black mark on his integrity. I write articles for computer trade magazines. Although I've never said "hey, I'm the one you want to hire" , they have done well to promote me as an expert in my field by showing I know my stuff. That's not dishonest. Anyone who can generate more business by using these forums to show they are knowlegable in coins are welcome to it. If it inceases sales then thats great. We are all learning from it.
The question remains, has the line been crossed. Were prices and "for sale" mentioned.
Also, Do links to websites with coins for sale really cause a problem?
anaconda coins rock ... the pics are spectacular ... post anytime, anywhere .... might even pull the trigger on a coin or two .... anaconda coin store on ebay is a great place to see many of his offers ...
So, 68%. I predicted 75% in another thread, hence the origin of the original post.

What's a matter Adrian can't take a little criticism? Debase me all you like, you show your true colors by doing so. I feel no need to feed your ego any further. If you have a problem with me come to the next Long Beach show and meet me in person. Have a drink with me and if you still feel that way, we can certainly settle any of our differences in any manner you choose.
Sorry to disappoint you guys but King Michael just ran out of ammo.
However, he will I'm sure be making good on settling our differences.
"In California today, strange as it may seem two lawyers with a beef against each other tossed bags containing dangerous snakes.....ANACONDA had no problem with a common rattlesnake, the only poisonous snake FRATTLAW could find, while FRATTLAW goes unconscious to hospital having never even heard of a saw scaled viper."
Lawyers....snakes....it's all making sense....
Now, FRATTLAW...get back to work...mortgage payment is late in 5 days!
(One final note....do I seem like the kinda of guy you would want to challenge at the next coin show?)
Michael can't fight right now, he had to go do laundry.
However, now that he has gotton his digs in and I have gotton mine in, I'll let it rest and as I said in another thread, my hand is exteded in peace (so, as coynclecter says, we can get back to coins!)

Really, that's kind of disappointing.
