The set rating is still at 68.99 over a year later. Is this a hot series still? Some say yes...I say no, because there has been little movement in the registry. Now I know that life doesn't revolve around this registry, and some of us are as busy as ever in this series, but to me it just doesn't make sense that in 13-14 months that not 1 pop-top was made to throw it to 69.00.
Paul, I think they should look at the fb dime wt's , a lot of the dates have a fb pop of 15 or less with a few at 5 or 6 and change the fb bonus from the standard 2 to something like 4 or 5 on the really tough dates and 3 or 4 on the semi tough dates, or maybe even higher on dates with only 3 or 4 fb examples listed this could drive the clad series a little and get more people looking for the elusive dates, maybe give the 70p a very high bonus as there are still no fb dimes graded, I think these dates are condition rarities and should be rewarded in the registry as such Tim (the climbing clads)
LOOKING FOR 1931-s merc that is nice for the grade and fb
I am thinking about re-focusing on the series myself. I'm getting bored with some of my other collections and will start selling off some of those coins to buy upgrades. You will see some activity soon, I promise!!!
"Is this a hot series still? Some say yes...I say no,"
Paul, it's neat to reread these threads. One of the problems I see with the clads is that it takes so many coins to complete the set and it can't be done in FB. I have rebuilt a silver set of Roosies for myself. I decided not to redo a clad set because there are just to many coins to complete it and imposible to complete it in FB. So I answer your question that the clads are not a hot series. Yet!! Those in the know are willing to pay for low pop tough date FB clad dimes and just sock them away. I once had 5 clad MS69FB Roosies and now only have 1 left. I haven't seen even one of the 4 I sold show up in the registry. I still have over a dozen clad roosies from my original set and have no problem holding onto them.
The silvers on the other hand are alive and doing quite well. It only takes 48 coins to complete the set and it can be completed in FB. I would not say they are a hot series but alive and chugging along. IMHO I think putting together a complete silver MS66FB - MS68FB set is one of the best value collections you can build for future appreciation right now. The trick is sifting through all the low end coins and spending the time building a nice attractive high end for the grade set. I cannot see where you can go wrong with this set.
Thanks for reviving this thread Paul. By the way.... Did Dan ever pay off on the bet he lost and get you those 04P & 04D 68FB Roosies??.

Glad to help! I did a search and went through some very interesting Roosie threads, and always found this one to be my favorite all time thread!
Dan50 has not sent these 2 coins as of yet, and I believe he is still missing them in his set. He was instructed by me to not worry about these right now, as the pops are still crazy low on the '04-P, and I would be pissed if he spent $100's on a coin just because of this bet. Dan50 is an outstanding guy and a great compadre on this board. Besides, I have the '04-D MS68FB and need only the P.
We should contrast your kindness in your comment "He was instructed by me to not worry about these right now, as the pops are still crazy low on the '04-P, and I would be pissed if he spent $100's on a coin just because of this bet." with the venom that was spewed by other posters, many of whom apparently are no longer with us. (eg, Mr. Platinum) You exemplify a true collector! I can only say that in a couple of years when I have my kids' college tuition paid, it will be fun to get back into clad dimes and kick your arse!
<< <i>Did Dan ever pay off on the bet he lost and >>
The bet has not been paid as of yet. But be aware that I am constantly searching for the 04-P for Paul. The D I have, but the only 04 I have found, were priced at $450.00 or $900.00 for two. Now we all know that was way out of line for a coin that is only one year into existence. Seeing how hard it is to find coins needed to pay this dept, I would be very happy to pay a monetary sum that Paul thinks is fair to him. I had also thought if I make a top pop year he needs, maybe a trade off in that area would be to his liking. So fellow members, be not afraid, Paul will be taken care of in any way that suits him.
The bad thing about having to read what someone posts here, you can't catch the tone of their voice when they express their thoughts. Nick that post had no finger pointing in it. I simply was giving information to those who have followed this thread from the start.
Skip the 04-P/D and just sent me the first 1970-P MS68FB you make!
Actually, ya know what makes me happy is 2 things...1) Is that they will have a Roosie GUARANTEED for 2006 and there is NO TALK of replacing it and 2) God luv him, but the Ronald Reagan dime fizzled out and there is no more talk of this one either!
Well its been another year and here is an up-date to all:
I have had several conversations regarding Roosies and everything else under the Sun with Dan and he is a Great Guy...I mean a GREAT GUY! He has a knowledge and understanding about Dimes and coins in general that would make most people just shake their heads. He has an incredible desire and passion about his Roosies. More then me if thats possible.
I asked him to not worry about the bet and if you want to know the whole story, read this thread as its a good read for sure.
Recently, Dan mentioned to me that he made a deal with Clackamas to buy a 2004-P MS68FB and now sure enough, its in my set. I owe a big thanks to several people that have had their hands in this and without mentioning names (You know who you are) I can't thank you enough.
The one in my set? You think I would part with that If the coin I sent in goes 67FB I will be selling my current 67FB. I found my magic roll from my mint sets. I put aside all the great 68-P FB dimes from the 1800 mint sets and lost the roll, well I found it last week. It was in the garage in a box of junk DOH!!! So I sent in 15 FB dimes on Submission # 9060746. they went modern so it will still be a couple of weeks before we get results.

I'm not trying to stir the pop here. It was just a friendly bet all in Roosie Fun. I'm sure you
