Image Post And Guess The Grade - 1868-S Half Dime

WWWWWW Posts: 2,609 ✭✭✭
I got this one the other day at a coin show. I got it in a trade and I would like our esteemed
Seated experts to help me out with a grading estimate based upon these images. Thanks!

Hard to tell the luster on such a toned piece, but I say AU-55.

That reverse is pretty. I'm not sure what's going on with those lines at 3 o'clock?

    I'd guess MS67

Does that piece have both die cracks and clashes? I think it is very cool.

I'll say AU58. I think I see a rub on her leg. That is a great strike and a wonderful toner.

If there actually isn't a rub, I would say MS66.

very nice !! late die state, V-1 the book says the die crakes running around the rim
were very close( time wise) to when the die shattered.

I call it ms-64 and expensive image
may the force be with you.

Yes! They are all over the coin. My first inclination is to grade it AU58 as the leg is flat
thus indicating wear. Would the worn condition of the dies cause the leg to appear flat?

I wouldn't want to guess on the grade without seeing it in person. I think that it's MS, and really nice looking!

The same area's that wear first are the same area's that are weakly struck. If the coin has luster in the fields and no signs of wear on the reverse I would say it is MS.
